The Fleet Operations Specialist plays a critical role in supporting enterprise-wide fleet operations by leveraging technology, data, and operational best practices to drive continuous improvement across our growing organization. 

 

This position partners closely with Fleet Managers and cross-functional teams to optimize fleet performance, improve asset utilization, support acquisitions, maintain fleet technologies, and ensure compliance across our organization. The ideal candidate is analytical, organized, technology-driven, and thrives in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.


Key Responsibilities

  • Develop, maintain, and analyze fleet operational, financial, utilization, and performance reporting using Microsoft Excel, Power BI, Power Automate, and fleet management systems.
  • Support administration of fleet technologies, including telematics, fleet management software, fuel card programs, GPS, toll management, and business intelligence platforms.
  • Partner with Fleet Managers to optimize fleet performance, asset utilization, operational efficiency, and cost management through data-driven insights.
  • Coordinate fleet asset acquisitions, transfers, rentals, equipment auctions, and integration of newly acquired locations into fleet systems.
  • Manage fleet data integrity and support system enhancements, reporting automation, API integrations, and workflow improvements.
  • Coordinate equipment repair, maintenance, transportation logistics, and vendor relationships to support business operations.
  • Support DOT compliance, fleet documentation, and conduct periodic fleet, vehicle, and equipment inspections.
  • Develop, document, and continuously improve fleet processes, policies, procedures, and operational standards.
  • Collaborate with Operations, Maintenance, Finance, Accounting, Procurement, Safety, and other cross-functional teams to support enterprise fleet initiatives.
  • Support special projects and other fleet-related initiatives as assigned.

Qualifications

  • 3+ years of experience in fleet operations, transportation, logistics, construction equipment, or a related operational environment.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret operational data and translate insights into actionable recommendations.
  • Working knowledge of DOT regulations, fleet compliance requirements, and commercial fleet operations.
  • Experience with commercial vehicles, trailers, construction equipment, and fleet asset management.
  • Experience with fleet management software, telematics systems, and related technologies preferred.
  • Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Excel and strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office.
  • Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills with the ability to collaborate across all levels of the organization.
  • Ability to travel up to 50%.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to safely operate company vehicles and fleet equipment on an occasional basis.
  • Ability to walk active jobsites, warehouses, and equipment yards.
  • Ability to lift and move materials weighing up to 50 pounds as needed.
  • Ability to travel by automobile and commercial airline.
