We are currently seeking qualified candidates for the following position:

Position: Strategic Initiatives Leadership Fellow (Hybrid)

 

The Strategic Initiatives Leadership Fellow will work directly with members of the office of the CEO – the Chief of Staff, CEO, and Executive Assistant – to support the strategic and operational excellence of Volunteers of America-Greater New York (VOA-GNY). This role offers a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience in high-level management and nonprofit operations, while contributing to impactful projects and initiatives. The Fellow will be involved in a variety of activities, including strategic planning, research, project management, external affairs, and executive support. This role is also responsible for overseeing the CUNY civic engagement grant, through which VOA-GNY seeks to boost civic awareness and participation among individuals experiencing, or who formerly experienced, homelessness.

 

This is a one-year fellowship, with a possibility of extending into a second year with increased responsibility and compensation.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree required with 2 years of professional experience in a relevant field, such as nonprofit management, public affairs, consulting, or business administration.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Demonstrated project management skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and other relevant software.
  • High level of discretion and ability to handle confidential information.

 

Strategic Initiatives Leadership Fellow Principal Responsibilities:

  • Operational Support: Assist with the day-to-day operations of the office of the CEO, including scheduling, meeting preparation, and follow-up.
  • Project Management: Lead and support special projects and initiatives for the office of the CEO. Ensure projects are completed on time, within scope, and within budget.
  • Communication and Coordination: Act as a liaison between the office of the CEO and internal/external stakeholders. Draft communications, reports, and presentations for various audiences.
  • Strategic Support: Assist the office of the CEO in developing and executing organizational strategies. Participate in planning sessions and provide insights and recommendations.
  • Research and Analysis: Conduct research on industry trends, best practices, and potential opportunities for the organization. Prepare reports and presentations to inform decision-making.
  • Board Engagement: Support the office of the CEO in preparing for board meetings, including creating agendas, compiling materials, and documenting minutes.
  • Innovation and Improvement: Identify opportunities for process improvements and innovations within the organization. Develop and implement solutions to enhance efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Perform other related duties as requested.
