About this role

Position Summary

Reporting to the Business Unit Controller, the Finance Manager – India will lead the India finance function with responsibility for accounting operations, financial reporting, statutory compliance, tax, audits, and internal controls. This role is ideal for a strong accounting leader in the Mumbai area with India GAAP and US GAAP knowledge who wants exposure to a US-owned global organization.

Detailed Role Responsibilities

I. Accounting Close and Reporting

  • Lead monthly, quarterly, and annual close activities, including journal entries, general ledger ownership, account reconciliations, and variance analysis.

  • Prepare and review management reporting packages, statutory financial statements, and other required financial reporting deliverables.

India GAAP, US GAAP, Tax, and Statutory Compliance

  • Own India GAAP and US GAAP reporting requirements and ensure compliance with corporate accounting policies.

  • Manage statutory filings, tax compliance, audit support, and relationships with external auditors, tax advisors, and regulatory bodies.

III. Controls, Processes, and Documentation

  • Drive implementation of scalable accounting processes, internal controls, and documentation to support a growing India finance function.

  • Support SOX readiness, control evidence, and process standardization aligned with corporate finance expectations.

IV. Team Leadership and Business Partnership

  • Lead, coach, and develop the India accounting team while building strong working relationships with local business leaders and global finance stakeholders.

  • Partner with global finance teams on consolidation, reporting, issue resolution, and continuous improvement priorities.

V. Systems and Continuous Improvement

  • Support ERP enhancements, reporting improvements, and finance process automation initiatives.

  • Use data, analytics, and practical problem-solving to improve close efficiency, reporting quality, and finance operating discipline.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, commerce, or a related field required; CA, Cost Accountant, CPA, ACCA, or equivalent qualification preferred.

  • 8–12 years of progressive accounting and finance leadership experience, ideally in a multinational, manufacturing, industrial, water, infrastructure, or technical product/service environment.

  • Strong working knowledge of India GAAP, US GAAP, statutory reporting, tax compliance, audit requirements, and corporate accounting policies.

  • Experience with ERP/reporting systems and strong Excel skills required; SAP, Infor LN/Baan, Oracle, Microsoft Dynamics, Power BI, or similar tools preferred.

  • Strong English communication skills required, with the ability to work effectively with local business teams and global finance stakeholders.

Location

Mumbai, India area; hybrid or office-based arrangement to be confirmed based on business needs. Limited travel may be required to support audits, business reviews, integration activities, or collaboration with global finance teams.
