Advanced Manufacturing Engineering Specialist (Georgetown, TX)
About this role
Purpose
Lead the development and evolution of the STL manufacturing system by defining future-state production strategies, manufacturing readiness plans, capacity expansion roadmaps, facility optimization opportunities, and industrialization approaches for future products and technologies. Responsible for ensuring STL remains scalable, efficient, and ready to support future business growth. Aligns manufacturing system ownership, capacity planning, manufacturing readiness, and technology deployment.
Near-Term Focus (Startup & Ramp)
- Support development of STL manufacturing system architecture and production strategy.
- Lead detailed production layout and facility planning activities.
- Define material flow, WIP, storage, and material handling strategies.
- Develop production capacity models and growth scenarios.
- Support major equipment implementation and manufacturing readiness activities.
- Lead factory commissioning and production ramp planning.
- Develop standardized manufacturing processes and production system requirements.
- Partner with Operations, Facilities, Quality, and Automation teams to ensure startup readiness.
- Identify future-state manufacturing improvements and capacity expansion opportunities.
Long-Term Focus (Manufacturing System Evolution)
- Own future-state manufacturing strategy for STL.
- Lead capacity expansion planning and production system scaling initiatives.
- Drive facility optimization and major manufacturing system redesign efforts.
- Lead manufacturing readiness activities for future STL products and technologies.
- Develop industrialization plans for new products and manufacturing processes.
- Support manufacturing transfer and production launch activities.
- Identify and evaluate emerging manufacturing technologies.
- Establish and maintain manufacturing system standards and best practices.
- Partner with Business, Operations, and AME leadership on long-term manufacturing roadmaps.
- Ensure STL manufacturing capabilities evolve to support future product portfolios and business growth.
- Strong knowledge of manufacturing system design, production flow development, and factory planning methodologies.
- Experience developing production capacity models, manufacturing roadmaps, and business growth scenarios.
- Expertise in facility layout development, material flow analysis, WIP management, storage planning, and material handling systems.
- Proven ability to lead manufacturing readiness, production launch, commissioning, and capacity ramp activities.
- Knowledge of industrialization processes for new products, technologies, and manufacturing operations.
- Experience evaluating manufacturing technologies, automation solutions, and capital equipment investments.
- Strong understanding of Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, Value Stream Mapping, and Operational Excellence principles.
- Proficiency with manufacturing simulation, factory modeling, and process analysis tools.
- Demonstrated ability to lead cross-functional initiatives involving Operations, Quality, Engineering, Facilities, Supply Chain, and Automation teams.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and data-driven decision-making skills.
- Proficient in project management, prioritization, and execution of complex manufacturing initiatives.
- Excellent communication, presentation, and stakeholder management skills, including engagement with plant, business, and executive leadership.
- Ability to influence strategic manufacturing decisions and align manufacturing capabilities with long-term business objectives.
EDUCATION AND CERTIFICATIONS
- Bachelor's degree in Manufacturing Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Operations Engineering, or a related technical field; Master's degree preferred.
- Minimum of 10+ years of experience in manufacturing engineering, advanced manufacturing engineering, industrial engineering, factory planning, or production system development.
- Demonstrated experience leading manufacturing system design, facility planning, production launches, commissioning activities, and capacity expansion initiatives.
- Proven experience developing production layouts, material flow strategies, labor models, and capacity planning tools for manufacturing operations.
- Strong knowledge of manufacturing readiness processes, new product introduction (NPI), industrialization, and production ramp planning.
- Experience with factory optimization, continuous improvement, and large-scale manufacturing transformation initiatives.
- Proficiency with CAD, facility layout, process modeling, and manufacturing simulation tools (e.g., AutoCAD, SolidWorks, FlexSim, Arena, or equivalent).
- Working knowledge of ERP and Manufacturing Execution Systems (MES) within a production environment.
- Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma Green Belt/Black Belt, PMP, or equivalent professional certifications preferred.
- Demonstrated ability to lead cross-functional teams and manage complex manufacturing projects in a global manufacturing environment.
