Reporting to the Senior Manager of Revenue, the Staff Accountant, Revenue Accounting, will be a key member of the revenue accounting team and will support the accounting close process, revenue-related journal entries, account reconciliations, variance analysis, audit support, and other general accounting activities to support the preparation of GAAP and management of financial statements, and interim/annual audits. This role will assist with revenue accruals, bad debt entries, and related close activities while partnering cross-functionally with FP&A, Billing, Accounts Receivable, and other business teams. We are looking for a strong staff accountant with public accounting or industry experience who is detail-oriented, analytical, collaborative, and able to manage recurring close responsibilities in a deadline-driven environment.
Core Requirements and Responsibilities:
Essential job functions included but are not limited to the following:
· Support the monthly revenue close process by preparing schedules, reviewing account activity, investigating variances, and ensuring journal entries are supported, accurate, and completed timely.
· Prepare and post monthly journal entries, including revenue accruals, bad debt expense, allowance for doubtful accounts, expense reclasses, and other assigned close entries.
· Maintain account reconciliations for assigned balance sheet accounts, including accounts receivables (incl. reserves), deferred revenue, and other assigned general ledger accounts.
· Generate and maintain monthly analytic files tracking changes in assigned revenue, expense, and balance sheet accounts.
· Partner with FP&A, Billing, Accounts Receivable, and other internal teams to research activity, resolve variances, and ensure accurate reporting.
· Assist with royalty reporting, including compiling data, preparing support schedules, reviewing amounts for reasonableness, and coordinating with internal stakeholders as needed.
· Work with external auditors to fulfill audit requests by preparing schedules, providing support, and responding to questions related to assigned accounting areas.
· Document and improve recurring close processes, reconciliations, reporting files, and internal procedures.
· Identify opportunities to improve efficiency through automation, standardization, and process improvements while maintaining strong internal controls.
· Work on projects as identified and assigned by management.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
· Intermediate to advanced skills with Microsoft Excel, including the ability to work with large data sets, pivot tables, lookups, and formulas. Strong understanding of journal entries, account reconciliations, accrual accounting, and month-end close processes.
· Strong analytical skills to identify trends, variances and problem areas
· High attention to detail and ability to prepare accurate, well-supported accounting schedules.
· Ability to organize and prioritize workload to meet deadlines
· Excellent communication skills, including verbal, written and active listening skills
· Strong teamwork and collaboration skills, including the ability to partner with cross-functional teams.
· Comfortable with change, process improvement, and incorporation of new or best practices into daily work.
