Who You Are:

Versar is seeking a qualified Generator Technician for Guantanamo Bay, Cuba.

What You’ll Do:

• Serve under the direction of Site Utility Manager to operate and maintain generator equipment; 
• Promote and maintain safety following established safe work practices and procedures; 
• Manage and assist technical teams to perform routine maintenance, repair, install, and adjust generator systems and transfer switches; 
• Report on all special occurrences such as emergency outages and corrective actions taken to maintain service. 
• Troubleshoot and overhaul, rebuild, or make comparable major repairs to Gensets, powered support systems, and other major components (e.g., engines, generators, alternators, gears, compressors, and hydraulic, pneumatic, electrical components); 
• Assist in the control and distribution of the mechanical and electrical makeup and operation of powered support systems such as those described above, including their major mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic components; 
• Troubleshoot and repair diesel, gasoline, and/or multi-fuel engines (e.g., overhauling those of 3 to 16 cylinders and up to 2MW of power); 
• Gear and govern components for controlling, changing, or transferring speed and power; 
• When malfunctions occur, assist to isolate and bypass the fault in order to maintain service or take actions to shed low priority loads when full service cannot be maintained; 
• Execute the company’s policy and procedure for proper and efficient operation of the power plants and distribution network in NS Guantanamo Bay, Cuba; 
• As directed by the Site Utilities Manager.

What You’ll Bring:

• Experience in small to large scale O&M gas/diesel gensets;
• Experienced working with other technical staff;
• Ability to read and use technical manuals, illustrations, diagrams, schematics, and similar guides covering the complete assembly, troubleshooting, and layout of powered support systems; 
• Experienced working in international work environments with expatriate or US military;
• Thorough knowledge of the mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic components and operation of powered support systems.

Preferred qualifications:

• Ability to follow troubleshooting procedures and use deductive reasons to determine repairs; and provide step by step feedback on all steps taking;
• Able to take specific verbal and written directions and carryout directions from the shift supervisor. Decisions made are covered by specific, well-established work methods and procedures;
• In the event problems arise, able take corrective action in accordance with instructions or notify their supervisor;
• Experience in providing prime power O&M Services to clients
