Own the processes that enable pricing and profitability. Lead Veritiv's cost management function, ensuring cost accuracy, vendor cost changes, freight loads, and system controls while driving margin growth, operational excellence, and business results.

Job Purpose:

Our Cost Manager is responsible for leading Veritiv's cost maintenance processes and team, ensuring accurate and timely management of item costs, freight components, and loads across the organization. This role serves as a critical link between Sourcing, Supply Chain, Pricing, Finance, and Sales Operations by maintaining accurate cost data that directly impacts inventory valuation, margin performance, commissions, and customer pricing. The Cost Manager oversees cost update execution, process governance, system controls, and continuous improvement initiatives to ensure cost data accurately reflects market conditions and supports corporate objectives.

Job Responsibilities:

Lead the cost maintenance function responsible for item costs, Business Purchase Agreements (BPAs), freight loads, and loads.
Ensure vendor cost increases and decreases are accurately reviewed, validated, and implemented in company systems.
Oversee both one-time and mass cost update processes, including imports, exports, and scheduled update activities.
Monitor execution quality and timeliness to ensure downstream pricing systems receive accurate cost information.
Maintain controls around cost effective dates, supplier notifications, and system updates.
Identify and implement opportunities to improve cost maintenance workflows, controls, automation, and reporting.
Drive root cause analysis and corrective action plans for recurring cost maintenance issues.
Provide reporting & visibility to key stakeholders (e.g., Category/Sourcing) on cost change trends to drive margin improvement activities.
Ensure cost information accurately supports inventory valuation, margin reporting & profitability analysis, customer specific cost trends, commission calculations.
Oversee utilization of EVO, EVO+, VOS, Salesforce, Enable, and other systems supporting cost maintenance activities.
Monitor reporting and analytics to ensure transparency into cost update performance and backlog management.
Collaborate with buyers, supply planners, and suppliers to resolve cost discrepancies and ensure data accuracy.
Serve as the primary escalation point for cost-related issues impacting pricing or operational effectiveness for system transformations.
Lead, coach, and develop Cost Specialists, Cost Administrators, and other team members responsible for cost maintenance activities.

Additional Responsibilities & Qualifications:

  • 6+ years of work experience in costing, sourcing, supply chain, or pricing with continuous improvement focus
  • Experience leading teams preferably in pricing, costing, sourcing, supply chain, finance, or business operations
  • Strong problem-solving capabilities with experience executing process-driven work
  • Strong communication and cross-functional collaboration skills.
  • Experience with ERP or other cost maintenance systems is highly desired.
  • Experience with reporting and business intelligence tools is highly desired.

Work Experience:

Experience of planning and managing resources to deliver predetermined objectives as specified by more senior managers (Over 3 years to 6 years)

Substantial general work experience together with comprehensive job related experience in own area of expertise to fully competent level. (Over 6 years to 10 years )

● Ability to manage multiple projects, work under pressure, and adapt to sudden changes in the work environment.

Education:

● Bachelor's Degree Preferred
