About this role

At Verda, we're building a full-stack AI cloud, covering everything from data centers and hardware to our own cloud platform that the world's leading AI teams use to do serious AI work.

We strive to make a positive mark on the world through the infrastructure we build and give leading teams a service they can truly depend on. Headquartered in Helsinki, we operate globally with offices in London and San Francisco.

Join Verda while it’s still being built - not once it’s finished.

About the role

At Verda, we're building next-generation cloud infrastructure for AI workloads. As we scale our infrastructure, customer base, and international operations, we're also building the compliance function that supports that growth.
We're looking for a Compliance Intern to work closely with the Compliance team across a range of projects and day-to-day activities. You'll get exposure to KYC, risk, privacy, information security, audits, and compliance operations, while helping build processes that are actively used across the business.

We're ambitious, curious, and pragmatic builders. We operate with low hierarchy, high ownership, and a strong bias for action. We've already achieved a lot, but we're only getting started.

Your responsibilities

In this role, you will support the Compliance team across both recurring activities and projects as we continue to build our compliance programme.

  • Support day-to-day compliance activities across the business

  • Help maintain compliance documentation, records, and evidence

  • Assist with KYC and other operational compliance processes

  • Research regulatory and compliance requirements and summarise relevant findings

  • Support compliance reviews and internal control assessments

  • Help prepare evidence for audits and certification activities

  • Track compliance actions, deadlines, and follow-ups

  • Work with teams across Verda to collect and organise information

  • Help identify gaps or inefficiencies in existing processes

  • Support internal reporting and compliance projects

  • Contribute to improving how compliance information is documented and maintained

  • Take on additional compliance projects as the team and business evolve

Your key competencies

We're not looking for someone who already knows everything. We're looking for someone who is curious, learns quickly, and takes ownership.

  • Strong attention to detail and ability to spot when something doesn't look right

  • Curious and genuinely interested in understanding how things work

  • Comfortable researching unfamiliar topics and finding relevant information

  • Good organisational skills and ability to keep track of multiple tasks

  • Clear written and verbal communication

  • Reliable and able to follow through without constant supervision

  • Comfortable asking questions and seeking clarification

  • Able to work with confidential and sensitive information

  • Proactive, practical, and willing to take ownership

  • Open to learning in a fast-moving environment

Nice to have

  • Interest in compliance, risk, privacy, security, or regulation

  • Exposure to KYC, AML, GDPR, or information security concepts

  • Familiarity with technology or SaaS businesses

  • Experience working with documentation or process-management tools

  • Exposure to ISO 27001, ISO 27701, SOC 2, or similar frameworks

  • Previous experience in a fast-moving or international environment

Practicalities

  • Location: Helsinki, Finland

  • Hybrid mode: Working 3 days a week from our Helsinki office

  • Employment type: Internship
