Manufacturing & Materials Engineer

Position Purpose:
The Manufacturing & Materials Engineer is responsible for integrating knowledge of material science, design and production methods to ensure product quality, enhance material properties and increase productivity. This role works cross-functionally to support Quality through material and processing compliance, New Product Introduction, troubleshoot production issues, and ensure manufacturability of new materials, products and processes.
Essential Duties and responsibilities
- Study, analyze and design methods, procedures, processes, layouts, fixtures and tooling to support process efficiency and product quality.
- Support efforts toidentifyand implement corrective/preventative actions for existing or imminent manufacturing problems, equipment failures, or safety issues.
- Oversee material testing and production processes,monitoringperformance,identifyingthe causes of material failure, and ensuring technical and quality control specifications are met.
- Lead efforts to ensure measuring and test equipment are properlymaintainedand calibrated
- Support activities as they relate to Quality Systems and Regulatory Requirements such AS9100 and NADCAP
- Work as part of a cross functional team, sustain current production by providing support for quality issues, production equipmentproblemsand part documentation errors bydeterminingroot cause and implementing corrective actions
- Track, document and report on progress of multiple projects, interacting with customers and team members to communicate technical processing requirements and constraints, project status and to resolve problems.
- Support implementing cost reduction initiatives and manufacturing process improvements originating from production team members
- Participate in the review and evaluation of product design changes and changes affecting processing / material testing requirements.
- Coordinate with support groups to ensure manufacturability; process capabilities and capacities are developed to support new products.
- Primary role in root cause analysis andimplementcorrective actions for recurring issues.
- Responsible for following all Vaupell policies and standard operating procedures and safety practices.

- Job Qualifications/Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in engineering + industry or research experience with aerospace standards and composite materials or related discipline
- Strong understanding of manufacturing methods, materials, equipment, and quality systems.
- Requires knowledge of design techniques, tools and principals involved in production of precision technicalplansblueprints,drawingsand models.
- Knowledge of Lean and Six Sigma toolsrequired.
- CAD proficiency/design background is a plus.
- Candidate must be comfortable working hands-on on the manufacturing floor..
- Ability to read, speak,understandand follow instructions in English.
- Must be able to wear andproperly usethe requiredpersonal protective equipment.
Candidates must be a “US Person” (i.e. US Citizen or Permanent Resident) to ensure Vaupell's compliance with ITAR (International Traffic in Arms Regulations) and EAR (Export Administration Regulations)
Environmental Condition
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts. The employee is occasionally exposed to fumes, airborne particles, and vibrations. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to occasionally loud. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.
Physical Requirements
This position requires frequent standing, walking, grasping, handling, finger dexterity, feeling, eye-hand coordination, hearing, vision, depth perception, color perception, keyboarding, and pulling. The role also requires regular sitting, bending, reaching, carrying under 25 lbs., eye-hand-foot coordination, and turning/twisting. Occasional lifting, carrying, pushing, climbing, balancing, kneeling, and crawling may also be required.
