About this role

Position Summary:  Assembles finished bed wood parts to create a bed frame.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Assembles footboards, headboards, rails and other bed parts in order to build a bed.
  • Transports bed frames to and from work station.
  • Lifts bed frame onto lift.
  • Applies materials involved to assemble bed by using staple gun, staple puller, scissors, screw driver, pliers, drill, wrench, ratchet, etc.
  • Assembles bed according to job order.
  • Makes sure all parts of the bed are correct and function.
  • After bed is assembled, it goes to inspection.
  • Removes frame from lift.
  • Responsible for fixing their own repairs before starting on new piece.
  • Maintains neat and orderly work station.
  • Properly stores tools and supplies at the end of each shift.
  • Wears required safety glasses; works safely and reports unsafe conditions to Dept. Supervisor.
  • Performs other duties as required by supervisor.


Essential Skills and Experience:

  • Must be knowledgeable in upholstery methods and be able to complete job to quality specifications.
  • English required to read tickets and job notes.
  • Must have ability to learn quickly and recognize parts.
  • Understand correct placement of parts, right/left sides, front/back.



Physical demands and work environment:

  • Lift / Carry: Lifting in Excess of 50 lbs.; team lift greater weights. Must be able to lift/remove frame from scissor lift.
  • Standing: Must be able to stand 8+ hours.
  • Reach / Handle: Repetitive motions lifting, pulling and assembling bed parts.
  • Environment: Indoors, environmentally controlled – 100%.
  • Automation: Scissor lift for positioning.
  • Tool Usage: Required to use staple gun, screw driver, wrench and scissors, etc. the entire shift.
  • Vision: Color Determination, observation of parts for quality control.
  • Near Acuity: Requires close vision of less than 3 feet, with or without corrective lenses, for precision.
