Structural Engineer | Pune | Full-time

The Structural Engineer is expected to independently manage steelwork design, detailing, estimation, and coordination activities for airport projects, while contributing to process improvements and technical standards. The position requires strong technical expertise in steel structures, a proactive approach to problem-solving, and a commitment to quality, safety, and project objectives. You will act as a subject matter expert in steelwork solutions, ensuring compliance with codes and customer requirements, and supporting project execution with strong technical and organizational skills.

What you will do

  • Lead and oversee the design, detailing, coordination, and approval of structural steelwork solutions for medium-to-large airport, parcel, and industrial projects.

  • Act as the primary technical authority for steelwork engineering, ensuring alignment with customer requirements, contractual obligations, project objectives, and company standards.

  • Review contractual requirements and technical specifications during sales, bidding, and engineering phases to ensure compliant and cost-effective steelwork solutions.

  • Support bidding and proposal activities through steel tonnage estimation, budgeting, supplier evaluations, structural analysis, connection design, and Tekla model development.

  • Manage and coordinate steelwork activities with internal teams, clients, suppliers, fabricators, consultants, and external engineering partners.

  • Provide technical guidance and support to site installation teams to ensure steelwork execution complies with applicable codes, standards, project specifications, and site conditions for both greenfield and brownfield projects.

  • Prepare and review design calculations, engineering deliverables, drawings, models, technical documentation, and project submissions.

  • Perform technical reviews, risk assessments, and quality checks of critical structural elements to ensure engineering excellence and project compliance.

  • Identify, evaluate, and implement optimization opportunities throughout the design, fabrication, and installation phases to improve cost, quality, constructability, and schedule performance.

  • Develop practical and innovative solutions for design modifications and engineering challenges while minimizing project cost and schedule impacts.

  • Support supplier engagement activities, including quotation reviews, technical evaluations, and negotiations related to steelwork scope.

  • Assess claims, variation orders, and engineering changes, providing recommendations based on technical and commercial impacts.

  • Mentor and support junior engineers by sharing technical knowledge, providing guidance, and promoting engineering best practices.

  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives by enhancing steelwork processes, standards, methodologies, and quality practices across projects.

  • Ensure compliance with international design codes, industry standards, quality management requirements, and company procedures.

  • Adhere to occupational health, safety, security, environmental, and quality requirements in all project activities.

What you bring

  • Bachelor’s degree in civil/ Structural.

  • 5-9 years of experience in structural engineering, preferably in steelwork.

  • Advanced proficiency in 2D and 3D design and detailing software, such as AutoCAD, Revit, Staad Pro, Ram Connection, and Tekla Structures.

  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft O􀆯ice applications, particularly Excel and Word.

  • Sound knowledge of American and British steel design codes, standards, and engineering practices.

  • Knowledge of material flow systems, such as airport baggage handling systems and cargo systems, is considered an advantage.

  • Excellent stakeholder management, interpersonal, and communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across multidisciplinary and global teams.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to assess technical risks, identify issues, and develop effective engineering solutions.

  • Structured, organized, and methodical approach to engineering and project delivery.

  • Ability to work independently while managing multiple priorities and contributing actively within a team environment.

  • Strategic mindset with a proven ability to drive process improvements, technical innovation, and continuous improvement initiatives.

  • Flexible and adaptable work style with strong workload management and prioritization skills in a dynamic project environment.

  • Fluent in written and spoken English.

  • Willingness to travel domestically and internationally as required.
