Job Description

Do you enjoy solving complex mechanical, electromechanical and control system malfunctions? Are you looking for a hands-on role where you combine troubleshooting, technical leadership and continuous improvement in a highly automated environment and do you like to work in 5 shifts? As a Service Technician at DHL Zaltbommel, you will play a key role in ensuring maximum system availability while supporting the development of both the operation and your team.

What will you be doing?

As a Service Technician, you will ensure that daily duties and activities within your shift/team are carried out safely and effectively, minimizing any impact on the customer’s operations. You will act with accountability and confidence in making decisions. This hands-on role involves working within your assigned 5-shift pattern on electrical, instrument, mechanical, and control systems, including installation, modification, maintenance, and repairs. You should have clear communication skills and the ability to make technical decisions. You will also take on a coordinating role, fostering team spirit and creating a safe work environment. Additionally, you will be the single point of contact for our customer DHL and the Vanderlande Global Service desk during technical malfunctions and escalations.

Responsibilities

As a Service Technician, you will be responsible for:

  • Ensure safe operations and compliance with HSE standards.

  • Perform and coordinate preventive and corrective maintenance on mechanical, electromechanical and control systems.

  • Troubleshoot technical issues and drive continuous improvements to systems, processes and service performance.

  • Act as the first point of contact for the customer, Global Service Desk and escalations during the shift.

  • Provide functional leadership, coaching and technical guidance to shift team members.

  • Coordinate shift activities, handovers and maintenance execution to ensure operational continuity.

  • Maintain accurate maintenance administration and reporting in CMMS (Dos Maximo).

  • Support escalation procedures and proactively identify potential risks and future issues.

What do we ask from you?

  • Minimum technical MBO 4 completed or comparable work experience in the technical sector.

  • At least 3 years of experience with electrical and mechanical maintenance work in the field.

  • Experience in finding and solving system errors and an affinity with controls.

  • Good command of the English and/or Dutch language.

  • Enthusiasm for training and guiding colleagues.

  • An enthusiastic, proactive attitude and flexibility.

  • Willingness to follow courses and training.

DHL Zaltbommel is a modern, highly automated distribution center equipped with state-of-the-art Vanderlande systems. As a site-based Service Technician, you are close to the operation and play a crucial role in keeping the process running smoothly. No day is the same; your work ranges from preventive and corrective maintenance to troubleshooting and continuous improvement of the system.

This position offers a competitive salary range of €3,400 to €4,800 gross per month, excluding 30% shift allowance and 8% holiday allowance.
