Your role
As a PLC Engineer, you will report to the Operations & Maintenance Manager and be based at Singapore Changi Airport Terminal 1. Working in a highly automated operational environment, you will support, troubleshoot, and continuously improve low-level control and PLC systems to maintain optimal system performance and reliability.
What you will do
Provide support for Low-Level Control (LLC) systems and PLC-related issues raised by the Operations & Maintenance team.
Diagnose, troubleshoot, and rectify PLC and control system faults within tight operational deadlines.
Program, maintain, and repair:
Sensors
Scanners
Visualization systems
Motors
Variable Frequency Drives (VFDs)
Encoders
Coordinate control system design activities with multidisciplinary engineering teams and project stakeholders.
Perform root cause analysis on control system failures and operational incidents.
Prepare incident summaries, technical reports, and recommendations as required.
Collaborate with the Vanderlande Global Service Desk to resolve complex incidents and technical challenges.
Drive continuous improvement initiatives through enhancements to existing software and hardware control systems.
Conduct technical training and orientation sessions for Vanderlande employees and external users.
Support the safe, reliable, and efficient operation of airport baggage handling systems
What you bring
Education
Bachelor's degree in Mechatronics, Electrical Engineering, Software Engineering, Industrial Automation, or a related discipline.
Experience
3 to 6 years of relevant experience within the automation or industrial control systems industry.
Hands-on experience with Operational Technology (OT) systems and Siemens PLCs during commissioning, installation, testing, and debugging activities.
Experience within airport baggage handling systems (BHS) is considered a strong advantage.
Experience working in an international or multicultural environment is preferred.

Siemens S7 Programming
TIA Portal
Distributed Safety Systems
RSLogix
OMRON PLCs
Strong understanding of industrial communication protocols and troubleshooting methodologies.
Knowledge of:
ControlNet
Profibus
Profinet
AS-i Bus
Working knowledge of Variable Frequency Drives (VFDs).
Strong diagnostic, fault-finding, and problem-solving capabilities.
