As a Controls Support Technician, you will support operations and maintenance of the parcel handling system at an Air Freight Facility. You will perform emergency, preventive, and corrective electro-mechanical and basic PLC maintenance, resolve system errors, clear jams, and handle manual encoding and load corrections. You ensure systems operate efficiently and remain in optimal condition.
Job Tasks and Responsibilities:
- Troubleshoot electrical, mechanical, and basic PLC issues in automated systems
- Perform PLC/VFD diagnostics, parameter adjustments, backups, and version control
- Conduct inspections, preventive/corrective and emergency maintenance; manage spare parts
- Execute maintenance using diagrams, manuals, and testing tools
- Maintain reports, service records, and parts usage
- Resolve sortation system errors and conveyor automation malfunctions.
- Respond to alarms, service calls, and system faults
- Clear jams quickly to restore operations
- Follow safety procedures, including Lock-Out/Tag-Out
- Utilize safe work practices to troubleshoot/repair electrical issues, and perform mechanical repairs as well.
- Maintain clean and safe work areas
- Support system optimization and assist team as needed

- Basic computer and equipment knowledge
Basic Qualifications:
- Associate degree (electro-mechanical or related)
- 2+ year electro-mechanical maintenance experience
- 2+ year CMMS experience (preferably Maximo)
- 2+ years of experience with PLC systems (Allen-Bradley and/or Siemens), including SCADA log analysis and troubleshooting.
- Ability to perform repairs, fault finding, and train others
Other Requirements:
- Valid driver’s license
- Ability to obtain and maintain Airport ID badge
Preferred Qualifications:
- Certified/Licensed Electrician
- PLC programming or code-reading experience
Position Details:
- Full-time; 24/7 operations; overtime common; Shift flexibility is a plus.
- Occasional international travel for training
- Work Schedule: Monday through Friday, 6:00 AM to 2:30 PM
- No supervisory responsibilities
Physical Demands:
Frequent lifting (up to 50 lbs, occasionally up to 120 lbs), climbing, working at heights, and accessing confined spaces. Requires standing, walking, bending, and use of tools.
Work Environment:
Exposure to noise, moving machinery, and varying weather conditions. Work areas include package handling facilities or a warehouse environment. Fast-paced environment with strict deadlines.
