The Harpeth Hotel in historic downtown Franklin is looking for a Café Cook to join our team in providing one-of-a-kind experiences for our guests! Our café cook will prepare café food including salads, sandwiches and pastries for McGavock’s, our on-site full service breakfast and lunch restaurant.
McGavock's Coffee & Provisions is a beloved neighborhood café serving more than just breakfast and lunch, we provide a warm and welcoming spot for people to gather. Our café team provide the warmth and care that makes McGavock's the best in the community, and they have fun doing it! We are looking for individuals who are passionate about delivering exemplary service and a one-of-a kind experiences for our guests.
AM shifts only, up to 7 days a week, with shifts from 5:30am-2pm. Full-time hours available. From $17-20 an hour. Free daily shift meals and beverages. We offer medical, dental, vision benefits and additional coverages for full-time team members.
POSITION PROFILE
Prepare culinary delights – salads, sandwiches, bagel sandwiches using high quality prepared ingredients for our neighborhood guests and hotel clientele. Be responsible for the daily preparation of food items including baking pastries in a commercial oven. Maintain strict adherence to food safety, sanitation and cleanliness standards. Work efficiently in a FUN environment. Smile.
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILTIES
- Prepare food of consistent quality following recipe cards, use records, production and portion standards, per order specks.
- Remember all the multiple orders and easily assemble them to specifications.
- Check pars for shift use, determine necessary preparation, freezer pull, and line set up. Note any out-of-stock items or possible shortages.
- Control food waste, loss and usage.
- Prepare food items including salads, sandwiches, and baked pastries using prepped ingredients and commercial ovens.
- Maintain strict adherence to food safety, sanitation, and cleanliness standards.
- Work efficiently in a fast‑paced, high‑volume FUN environment while staying calm and focused.
- Communicate clearly with team members and support smooth kitchen operations.
- Perform other duties as assigned, requested or deemed necessary by management.
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
- High school education or equivalent experience.
- Three - Six months in a food/beverage or customer service environment or establishment.
- Must have manual coordination to punch buttons, grasp items in hand, and carry containers loaded with food and liquids.
- Must be able to stand for long periods of time.
- Able to read, speak and understand English.
- Communicate information and hotel services to management, staff and guests
- Ability and comfortable working weekends and holidays
- Reliable, organized, and committed to maintaining a clean workspace
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
- Able to lift, push, carry 20 - 40 lbs.
- Stand continuously for long periods of time.
- Lift, pull, push, bend, and move items to support the hotel and outlets
