Material Management Specialist
Purpose:
  • Valkyrie is seeking a dedicated Material Management Specialist to provide Integrated Logistics and Sustainment support for Sensor Distribution Systems (SDS).
  • The position will support the Government Item Manager with the control, accountability, tracking, and management of Operating Materials and Supplies (OM&S) throughout the material lifecycle.
Job Description:
  • Support the Government Item Manager with the control, tracking, accountability, and management of OM&S within Navy Enterprise Resource Planning (NERP).
  • Apply SECNAV and NAVSEA instructions, policies, and standard operating procedures governing OM&S accountability and management.
  • Perform material management activities including:
    • Material receipts, issues, and transfers.
    • Material handling, tracking, and research.
    • Material validation and verification.
    • Material safety and inventory inspections.
    • Material disposal.
    • Shipping and receiving.
  • Utilize NERP and applicable parts databases to support material management activities.
  • Obtain and maintain required NERP access and user roles, including:
    • Inventory Display and Reporting (0027)
    • Shipment Creation (0094)
    • Procurement Display (0209)
    • Warehouse Display and Reporting (0295)
  • Track incoming and outgoing material between warehouses and the laboratory.
  • Coordinate material pickups and deliveries with the NSWCDD DNA Central Shipping and Receiving Department.
  • Prepare warehouse movement forms for material storage, transfers, issuance, and disposal of unserviceable/non-repairable items.
  • Prepare DD-1149 shipping requisitions for equipment, parts, documentation, and material disposals.
  • Coordinate and schedule freight and standard shipments and track shipments through delivery.
  • Maintain accurate material tracking and shipment logs.
  • Schedule and support warehouse visits for material validation/verification checks, inventory inspections, and related activities.
  • Perform periodic inventory inspections of OM&S located in warehouses and laboratories to verify physical inventory quantities against NERP records.
  • Prepare required warehouse documentation for inventory adjustments.
  • Attend OM&S meetings, support Government data calls, and participate in Command-wide inventory inspections as required.
  • Provide accurate status and inventory information to support the sustainment and readiness of SDS systems.
Qualifications:
  • Must have a Bachelor's degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Business, or a related field with at least 5 years of relevant experience; or High School Diploma/GED with at least 9 years of relevant experience.
  • Must have demonstrated experience in material management, inventory management, logistics, supply chain management, or warehouse operations.
  • Must have experience managing and tracking material throughout the receipt, storage, issue, transfer, shipment, and disposal lifecycle.
  • Must have experience working with inventory management systems and maintaining accurate inventory records.
  • Must have the ability to interpret and apply policies, procedures, and instructions related to material accountability and management.
  • Must have strong organizational and analytical skills with the ability to manage multiple material actions and priorities.
  • Must have the ability to coordinate effectively with Government personnel, warehouse personnel, shipping/receiving organizations, and other stakeholders.
Desired Requirements:
  • Experience with Navy Enterprise Resource Planning (NERP), preferred.
  • Experience with NERP Inventory Management, Warehouse Management, Material Management, and Procurement modules, preferred.
  • Experience with NERP roles 0027, 0094, 0209, and 0295, preferred.
  • Experience supporting Navy logistics, OM&S accountability, or Integrated Logistics Support (ILS), preferred.
  • Familiarity with SECNAV and NAVSEA policies and procedures governing OM&S, preferred.
  • Experience supporting NSWCDD DNA, preferred.
  • Experience supporting Sensor Distribution Systems (SDS) or Navy combat system sustainment, preferred.
Security Requirements:
  • Must have an Active Secret Security clearance and base access requirements.
Travel Requirements:
  • Less than 10%

Physical Requirements:
  • Must be able to work in an office, industrial, warehouse, laboratory, or shipboard environment.
  • Be able to lift and move materials not to exceed the guidelines set for one-man lift.
  • Must be able to perform warehouse and site inspections and carry a laptop computer.
