The Opportunity
We are currently seeking a Network & Telecom Analyst II to join our IT Operations & Projects team in Voisey's Bay, Newfoundland and Labrador.
The role is a permanent on-site position, working 2 weeks on, 2 weeks off rotational schedule.
Reporting to the Supervisor, Network & Telecom, the Network & Telecom Analyst II is responsible for the operation, maintenance, support, and continuous improvement of network infrastructure, wireless networks, telecommunications systems, cloud connectivity, and associated communications technologies across Vale Base Metals. This includes routing and switching, network security, Wi-Fi, VoIP and unified communications, LTE services, cloud networking, monitoring platforms, and supporting physical network infrastructure.
The successful candidate will work closely with business stakeholders, technology teams, vendors, and service providers to ensure secure, reliable, and cost-effective network and telecommunications services that support operational excellence across both Canadian and international operations. The role also contributes to cybersecurity initiatives, service delivery improvements, incident management, and technology projects while ensuring compliance with Vale's technology standards and service management practices.
Key Responsibilities
Network & Telecom Operations
- Support and maintain network infrastructure including routing, switching, wireless, telecommunications, and cloud connectivity.
- Manage and monitor network performance, availability, and reliability.
- Support VoIP, unified communications, LTE, SD-WAN, MPLS, and related technologies.
- Maintain technical documentation, asset inventories, and network standards.
Service Delivery & Performance
- Monitor service levels and drive continuous improvement initiatives.
- Participate in incident, problems, changes, and release management processes.
- Lead troubleshooting and resolution of complex network and telecom issues.
- Generate operational reports and contribute to KPI and service performance metrics.
Cybersecurity, Risk & Compliance
- Support cybersecurity initiatives for network and telecom infrastructure.
- Ensure compliance with security standards, policies, and industry best practices.
- Identify and mitigate technology risks, vulnerabilities, and performance issues.
- Support business continuity and disaster recovery planning.
Vendor & Stakeholder Management
- Collaborate with business partners, technology teams, contractors, and vendors.
- Monitor service provider performance and contract compliance.
- Support infrastructure projects, upgrades, and technology deployments.
- Provide cross-functional support across Network, Cloud, Hosting, End User Services, AI, and Operational Technology environments.
About You
Experience
- Minimum 5 years of experience supporting enterprise network and telecommunications environments.
- Experience with Cisco, Juniper, Huawei, or equivalent networking technologies.
- Experience supporting cloud connectivity and hybrid cloud environments.
- Strong troubleshooting, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Experience working with external vendors and managed service providers.
Work Schedule & Travel - MUST
- This position operates in a 24/7 operational environment and requires participation in a rotational work schedule of 14 days on / 14 days off, working 12-hour shifts. Shifts may be scheduled from 9:00 AM to 9:00 PM, based on operational requirements. Candidates must be willing and able to work weekends, statutory holidays, and other rotational schedules as required.

- Travel between operational sites may be required to support field services, project deployments, technology upgrades, and operational incidents.
Education
- Diploma or Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Network Engineering, or a related field.
Skills & Competencies
- Strong understanding of routing, switching, wireless, telecom, and network security technologies.
- Knowledge of firewalls, VPNs, IDS/IPS, and cybersecurity principles.
- Experience with cloud platforms such as Azure, AWS, or Google Cloud.
- Understanding of ITIL service management practices.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- CompTIA Network+, CCNA, CCNP, or equivalent certifications.
- Experience in industrial, mining, manufacturing, or operational technology environments.
- Experience with network monitoring and observability tools.
