This is an open-pooled position. Applicants' education/experience will be considered and the position may be filled at a lower or higher level, as appropriate.

 

WORK SCHEDULE:

Saturday, Sunday, Monday 7:00am to 7:00pm, on call requirement.

 


IMAGING TECHNOLOGIST I

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Associates of Applied Science OR Graduate of an accredited Radiology program

  • Enrolled in or have completed  second Imaging Modality program

LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS OR CERTIFICATIONS

Required:

  • Certification from one of the following credentialing organizations:

    • American Registry of Radiologic Technology (ARRT), -

    • American Registry for Diagnostic Sonography (ARDMS), -

    • American Registered Vascular Technologist (RVT-VT), -

    • Nuclear Medicine Technology Certification Board (NMTCB), or -

    • American Registry of Magnetic Resonance Imaging Technologists (ARMRIT)

  • Registration as a Medical Radiologic Technologist (MRT-GC) through the Texas Medical Board, if applicable. 

  • Registry in a second modality must be completed within  6 months of hire or transfer date.

  • American Heart Association BLS.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Associate's Degree - Strongly Preferred 
  • Three - six months experience in the Secondary Imaging Modality
  • Experience and/or Registry in Computed Tomography (CT)

JOB DESCRIPTION:

The Multi-modality Technologist I provides quality imaging and patient care within two (2) medical imaging modalities in any combination of which MRI, CT, Mammography, or X-ray are the primary modality. Performs imaging procedures on ambulatory and hospital patients in a clinic or hospital setting as requested by the ordering physician or other licensed provider. The procedures are performed under general supervision of a Radiologist for the diagnosis of disease and injury in accordance with established protocols. The Multi-modality Technologist I must be able to effectively explain the procedure to the patient and be sure they are competent in the procedure being performed. In addition, the Multi-modality Technologist I will be able to provide care to the patients while obtaining diagnostic quality images for interpretation by a Radiologist. The Multi-modality Technologist I will meet all of the qualifications and requirements for the modalities in which they are certified and will work a minimum of 40%25 of the time in the second modality. The position may require flex shifts and support at different UTMB Campuses.

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Three (3) Years’ Experience in the Primary Imaging Modality
  • One (1) Year Experience in the Secondary Imaging Modality

  • Two (2) Certifications from one or more of the following credentialing organizations:
    • American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT),
    • American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS),
    • American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography - Vascular Technologist (RVT-VT),
    • Nuclear Medicine Technology Certification Board (NMTCB), or
    • American Registry of Magnetic Resonance Imaging Technologists (ARMRIT).
