The Associate or Deputy General Counsel will be responsible for providing direct legal support to U.S. Dermatology Partners. This position will support multiple legal functions depending on the candidates background and skill set, which may include regulatory & compliance related matters, litigation support (professional liability and non-liability), employment investigations, and insurance coverage. More important than all other skills is the ability to take over and manage projects and the desire to learn and grow their practice.

Duties and Responsibilities

Stays informed and supports current legislation
Writes, edits, and finalizes reports, opinions, correspondence, and other documents

Support internal Employment investigations (as needed)

Performs investigations in conjunction with outside counsel and the Chief Compliance Officer
Finds ethical solutions to legal matters
Manages cases independently
Development of litigation strategies
Reporting to insurance carriers
Provides analysis of legal and policy issues
Conducts and oversees research into a variety of legal issues

Adheres to all safety policies and procedures in performing job duties and responsibilities while supporting a culture of high quality and great customer service
Assist with practice acquisitions
Draft and prepare various agreements (employment, lease, service, vendor)
Performs other duties that may be necessary or in the best interest of the organization
The position will require travel (up to 25%)

Texas bar license required
Minimum 1-5 years’ experience for Assistant General Counsel / 5+ for Deputy General Counsel
Health Care related experience required
Big firm or in-house experience preferred

Able to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing

Mathematical and/or analytical ability for basic to intermediate problem solving
Basic to intermediate computer operation

Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook

Specialty knowledge of systems relating to job function
Knowledge of state and federal regulations for this position; general understanding of HIPAA guidelines
