The University of Maryland School of Nursing (UMSON) is currently recruiting for two full-time teaching-focused Assistant or Associate Professor to join the Community Public Specialty and the Department of Family and Community Health.  The Community Public Health Specialty currently includes an MSN program with certificates in Environmental Health and Care Coordination and required community public health courses for BSN, MSNE, and DNP students. The ideal candidates are doctoral prepared nurses with an advanced degrees in community/public health and experience in community/public health/population health.

UMSON enrolls more than 2,000 students in its baccalaureate, master's, and doctoral programs and is ranked among the top ten schools of nursing in the nation. It is part of the University of Maryland graduate professional campus that also includes the schools of medicine, dentistry, social work, pharmacy, and law and is becoming one of the fastest growing biomedical research centers in the nation. The unique composition of the campus enables health professionals to address clinical care, public policy, and social issues through multidisciplinary research, scholarship, and community action. Its location in the Baltimore-Washington-Annapolis triangle maximizes opportunities for collaboration with governmental agencies, health care institutions, and life science industries.

Primary Responsibilities

Successful candidates will participate in the development, teaching, organization, and evaluation of clinical and didactic courses primarily in the graduate programs.  In addition to teaching, responsibilities include advising graduate students; participating in the governance of the department/school; participating in research, scholarship; service, and other activities that advance the mission of the school.

Qualifications:

  • Doctoral degree in nursing or related field required

  • Leadership and management experience in community public health and population health

  • Graduate level preparation in community health nursing or public health  

  • Prior academic experience required; teaching at the graduate level preferred

  • Active nursing license or eligibility to practice nursing in Maryland or compact State required

  • Familiarity with community/public health delivery sites in Maryland

Hiring Range: $122,000-$148,000
