Assistant Coach, Player Development Men's Basketball

Job Summary:

The Player Development Assistant Coach supports the overall success of the men's basketball program with a primary focus on the individual skill development and long-term growth of student-athletes, both on and off the floor. This position works closely with the coaching staff, strength and conditioning staff, and sports performance team to design and execute individualized development plans that improve on-court performance and prepare players to perform at their optimal level.

Full Job Description:

Key Responsibilities

· Design and implement individualized skill development plans for each player based on position, role, and areas of improvement

· Conduct individual and small-group workouts (pre-practice, post-practice, and out-of-season)

· Analyze film to identify player tendencies, strengths, and areas for growth; deliver actionable feedback to the head coach/staff

· Track player progress through measurable benchmarks (shooting percentages, ball-handling metrics, etc.)

· Assist in practice planning and execution under direction of the Head Coach

· Support scouting and game-day preparation as assigned

· Mentor student-athletes on professional habits, work ethic, and career planning

· Assist with administrative duties as needed or as directed by the Head Coach

· Monitor the academic progress of select players assigned by the Head Coach

· Maintain compliance with NCAA, conference, and university rules and regulations

Qualifications

· At least 1 year of prior coaching or several years of playing D1sports at the collegiate or professional level.

· Demonstrated expertise in individual skill instruction (shooting mechanics, ball-handling, footwork, finishing, etc.)

· Strong understanding of film breakdown and player analytics

· Excellent communication and relationship-building skills with student-athletes

· Knowledge of NCAA rules and compliance standards

· Ability to work flexible hours, including early mornings, evenings, and weekends

· Preferred Experience

· Experience with player development technology (e.g., Synergy, Noah Basketball, ShotTracker, HomeCourt, etc.)

· Relationships within the basketball community (grassroots, professional, scouting, agents, etc.) a plus

Salary Range :

$83,600-$139,032 annualized; commensurate with experience.
