The Role
The Heritage Collections team is seeking a qualified archivist with Polish language skills for the role of Project Archivist (Polish School of Medicine). In this role, you will oversee the delivery of a project to catalogue, preserve and disseminate knowledge of the collections which document the history of the Polish School of Medicine (PSM) at the University of Edinburgh. You will develop relationships with academic and local communities, scoping out work required for further understanding these collections and laying foundations for future activity.
Main responsibilities include:
- Cataloguing and management of the identified collections in line with professional standards and local practice
- Development of specialist collections knowledge
- Liaising with and developing relationships with stakeholders
- Conducting collections-based or professional sector research
- Managing the project including its budget, procurement of materials and services and any use of interns and volunteers
- Representing and promoting the University through contributions to the heritage, cultural and engagement sector

This post is full-time (35 hours per week); however, we are open to considering part-time or flexible working patterns.

Services and access to collections are provided online and onsite through the Main Library, site libraries, the Centre for Research Collections, award-winning makerspace services and St Cecilia’s Hall Concert Room & Music Museum.
