The A Side: A Day in The Life

To assist the Senior Management Accountants in delivering the timely, accurate and well-presented results for the Central UK Recorded Music company. Working with our Shared Service centre to maximise the team’s efficiency and effectiveness.

Building and maintaining strong working relationships with key stakeholders across the business including, Record Labels, Finance, IT, Commercial, Royalties, Legal and Tax departments.

The B Side: Skills & Experience

Be financial

  • Assist with the preparation of month-end financial results within corporate deadlines, including accruals, interface closings, journals, balance sheet reconciliations and variance analysis.

  • Prepare supporting schedules and analysis for monthly management accounts.

  • Assist with variance analysis and investigate movements against budget and prior periods.

  • Support in the monthly HFM submission to corporate finance, monthly management pack preparation and variance analysis on the P&L.

  • Assist with audit requests and statutory reporting requirements.

  • Support the Senior Management Accountants in maintaining an effective financial control framework, including compliance with internal controls and finance processes across our onshore and offshore teams.

Be collaborative:

  • Work closely with the Shared Service Centre to resolve queries and clear reconciling items.

  • Build effective relationships with finance and non-finance stakeholders.

  • Contribute to improving finance processes and ways of working.

Be analytical:

  • Investigate financial variances and balance sheet movements.

  • Prepare financial analysis for the Senior Management Accountants, Group Finance Director and other stakeholders across the business.

  • Assist with ad hoc reporting and analysis for the wider finance team.

Person Specification

Essential:

  • Approximately 1 year of experience in a finance or accounting role.

  • Studying towards AAT, ACCA or CIMA, or intending to begin a professional qualification.

  • Good understanding of accounting principles, including journals, accruals and prepayments.

  • Strong Excel skills (Pivot Tables, VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP and basic formulas).

  • Enthusiastic, self-motivated and interested in working within the music industry.

  • Excellent attention to detail and organisational skills.

  • Strong communication skills and willingness to learn.

  • Ability to prioritise work and meet deadlines.

Desirable:

  • Experience with SAP or another ERP system.

  • Exposure to month-end accounting.

  • Experience working with shared service centres.

  • Exposure to HFM, BPC or SAP Analysis for Office.

  • Experience within the media, entertainment or music industry.
