Staff/Principal Software Engineer

New York · Hybrid$225k – $300k + Equity

About this role

Uniti AI is a New York City–based Series A startup building advanced AI sales and support agents for the real estate industry. As a Principal Software Engineer at Uniti AI, you will set the technical direction and lead the development of our core platform spanning real-time communication, automation, and large-scale AI-driven workflows. You'll architect and deliver high-impact systems, guide engineering best practices, and collaborate closely with product, AI, and go-to-market teams to ensure our technology consistently delivers measurable value. Your work will shape a reliable, scalable foundation that supports rapid growth, drives customer adoption, and accelerates the long-term success of our AI agents.

What will you be doing?

Own and ship major features across the full stack (backend-leaning) for Uniti's omnichannel AI agents spanning email, SMS, WhatsApp, web chat, and voice

Make key architecture and infrastructure decisions — design decision records, evaluate tradeoffs, and build scalable systems on AWS

Work directly with the CTO and founders to shape product direction and technical strategy in fast, weekly development cycles

Pair program and build with AI coding tools (Cursor, Claude Code) as a core part of your daily workflow

Contribute across the entire stack as needed — no siloed roles; the team shuffles priorities weekly based on what matters most
