A/V Operation Support Specialist

Salary/Position Classification
- $50,000+ Annual, Dependent on Experience, Non-Exempt (Eligible for overtime)
- 40 hours per week
- This position will work onsite at the UND Grand Forks, ND campus
Purpose of Position
To assist faculty, staff and students with the daily operation and troubleshooting of classrooms and conference rooms AV equipment and to assist Information Resources with the maintenance, and upgrade of all AV equipment at the School of Medicine and Health Sciences in Grand Forks and all of its remote sites.
Due to the nature of the work, this position requires an onsite, physical presence.
Duties & Responsibilities
25% Installation
- Wire, terminate and test all AV cables and connectors
- Install AV and computer equipment in racks and AV cabinets
50% Maintenance, Troubleshooting & Repair
- Maintain all AV equipment operations
- Troubleshoot AV equipment problems
- Repair minor AV equipment and coordinate major AV equipment repair with vendors
- Respond to support calls
- Orders electronic parts and supplies
25% Training
- Provide training to faculty, staff and students on how to use AV systems
- Create training documentations for end users
Required Competencies
- Ability to run and terminate AV wires and connectors
- Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills and the ability to communicate technical terms with non-technical users
- Ability to understand wiring diagrams and schematics
- Ability to be self-motivated and self-directed
- Ability to take initiative, multi-task and work both independently and as part of a team
- Ability and desire to learn and improve skills
- Ability to multi-task and meet deadlines
- Ability to travel as needed to remote campus
Minimum Requirements
- Associates degree in electronics or 3 years of experience in the commercial audiovisual industry
- Troubleshooting experience with commercial Audiovisual or control systems
- Successful completion of a Criminal History Background Check

Preferred Qualifications
- Programming experience in Crestron or similar control systems.
