One year of surgical assisting experience and/or Expanded Duties Dental Assistant (EDDA) or Expanded Function Dental Auxiliary (EFDA), radiology certification, CPR certification. Additional certification may be required based on dental specialty. Grade 3 (Hourly)

Position Description:

The University of Louisville School of Dentistry prepares students for a career in Dentistry, and is to hire a seeking to hire Dental Assistant II. This position works as a dental assistant at the Home of the Innocents located at 1100 E Market St, Louisville, KY 40206.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Work with the faculty, peers and supervisors to deliver customer service oriented and patient centered care.

  • Serve as chairside dental assistant to dentists as an Expanded Duty Dental Assistant (EDDA) or a surgical assistant, providing four hand dental assisting as needed in pediatric dentistry patient care.

  • Greet, seat, and schedule patients as needed.

  • Maintain stock of supplies throughout the clinic, and order as needed.

  • Stock, prepare, organize, break down and clean operatories.

  • Sterilize clinic instruments following appropriate infection control procedures.

  • Take radiographs as needed.

  • Maintain HIPAA, OSHA and Infection Control compliance at all times.

  • Other duties assigned.

Preferred Qualifications

The ideal candidate will have experience as a Dental Assistant and with an electronic health record database. Will be nationally certified Dental Assistant, EDDA Certified, Certified in Dental Radiology preferred. General knowledge of Oral Hygiene and radiation safety.
