The Role

You'll support patients before, during and after sedation procedures at our Leeds clinic, working alongside the clinical team to deliver safe, calm and efficient care, acting as the second appropriate person for sedation in line with IACSD standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Providing chairside assistance during sedation, surgical, and dental procedures

  • Preparing patients before sedation treatment, ensuring comfort, safety, and reassurance

  • Assisting with patient monitoring during sedation, in line with clinical protocols and IACSD standards

  • Supporting post-operative care and recovery following sedation

  • Maintaining strict infection-prevention protocols, aseptic technique, and clinical safety standards (HTM 01-05)

  • Completing sedation documentation and clinical records accurately and on time

  • Preparing treatment rooms, instruments, equipment, and materials for sedation procedures

  • Ensuring all surgical instruments and equipment are properly cleaned, sterilised and prepared

  • Supporting efficient surgery turnaround between patients

  • Escalating concerns promptly and helping maintain a safe patient environment

  • Supporting compliance with CQC fundamental standards and GDC standards

  • Collaborating with the wider team to deliver an excellent patient experience

What We're Looking For

  • Current GDC registration as a dental nurse

  • Dental nurse qualification: NEBDN National Diploma or equivalent

  • Documented sedation training, and hands-on experience supporting conscious sedation in a dental or clinical setting

  • Current immediate life support (ILS) skills, or willingness to complete ILS training before we open

  • Strong infection control and surgery preparation skills

  • Excellent communication and a patient-first mindset

  • Calm under pressure, organised, reliable and clinically confident

  • The right to work in the UK

Desirable

  • NEBDN Certificate in Dental Sedation Nursing, or the Award in Intravenous or Inhalation Sedation Dental Nursing

  • SAAD or other IACSD-accredited sedation course

  • Experience supporting surgical, implant or advanced dental treatments

  • Familiarity with Dentally: training available if not

Important Details Before Applying

  • Where: On site at Truly Leeds, 4 York Place, Leeds LS1 2DR, United Kingdom. This is a clinical role, so there's no remote option.

  • When we open: The clinic is expected to open in September, with clinical team members starting from August to support training, onboarding and clinical setup. We'd love someone who can join us before opening, but tell us your notice period and we'll work with it.

  • Hours: 30-40 hours per week on a shift/rota basis, covering the clinic's opening hours across seven days. Your rota is published in advance and built with the team.

  • Right to work: You must have the right to work in the UK. We ask every successful candidate for evidence of this before starting, and we apply the same check to everyone.

  • Pre-employment checks: As a CQC-registered provider, any offer is subject to a DBS check at the level required for the role, satisfactory references, proof of identity and qualifications, confirmation of your GDC registration, and evidence of Hepatitis B immunisation with titre levels — or an occupational health risk assessment where immunity can't be evidenced.
