In this role, you'll:
Lead the strategy, development, and ongoing management of our enterprise data platform. This is a key leadership role responsible for ensuring the organisation has a secure, scalable, and reliable data environment that supports reporting, analytics, and informed decision-making across one of New South Wales' largest infrastructure programs.
You will lead the data engineering function, overseeing platform architecture, infrastructure, pipelines, and engineering practices while driving continuous improvement and innovation. Working closely with stakeholders across the business, you will develop and deliver a technology roadmap that ensures the platform continues to meet current and future organisational needs. Your leadership will help ensure data solutions deliver measurable business value, improve operational outcomes, and support better services for the people of NSW.

About you
You are an experienced technology leader with a strong background in data engineering, platform management, and team leadership. You have successfully led engineering teams and have end-to-end experience managing enterprise data platforms, including architecture, infrastructure, data pipelines, security, compliance, and operational support.
You bring a strategic mindset combined with a practical understanding of modern data engineering practices. You can build strong relationships with technical and business stakeholders, influence decision-making, and create an environment where teams can succeed. You are passionate about delivering reliable, scalable technology solutions that enable organisations to get the most value from their data.
Key Skills and Experience:
- Proven experience leading data engineering teams and operating models
- Strong experience managing enterprise data platforms across their full lifecycle
- Expertise in data platform architecture, infrastructure, security, compliance, and governance
- Strong grasp of modern data engineering and software development practices, including DevOps and cloud/virtualised infrastructure
- Experience developing and delivering technology roadmaps and platform strategies
- A track record of leading data engineering teams through delivery, not just strategy
- Strong service management experience, including support models, SLAs, and operational governance
- Demonstrated ability to build high-performing teams and foster a culture of continuous improvement
- Strong stakeholder engagement, communication, and cross-functional leadership skills
- Experience partnering with business leaders to deliver technology outcomes that create measurable value
