In this role, you'll:


Be part of Transport for NSW's Legal & Governance branch, (which reports to the Transport Secretary), working collaboratively across the organisation, partnering to provide critical legal advice and support for sensitive and complex legal matters to support the operations of Transport for NSW and other agencies in the transport portfolio.

 

This lawyer position is part of the specialist Projects, Development and Planning team within Transport for NSW's Legal & Governance unit which has responsibility for supporting Roads, Rail and Maritime projects. 

 

Reporting to the Director, Legal, you will support other front-end construction and major projects lawyers working across all Transport modes, forging close relationships with key internal clients and providing expert, clear, comprehensive legal services.

 

Taking a key role within project teams, you will identify legal risks, provide solution-oriented legal advice and drafting support, and contribute as a team member to coordinate and influence outcomes. 

 

This is a permanent full-time position governed by our hybrid working model, which forms part of the organisation’s Flexible Working Arrangements and associated procedures. This includes a combination of required onsite attendance at our Elizabeth Street office in Sydney CBD and approved remote working.

About you


You are a Construction or Infrastructure Projects Lawyer with front-end experience and a minimum of 2-3 years post admission experience.

 

You will have advanced written and verbal communication skills and are able to convey technical legal concepts clearly and succinctly.

 

You will  have basic knowledge and experience in drafting, negotiating and advising on a wide range of construction and infrastructure related contracts, including construct-only, design and construct, equipment supply, consultancy appointments and associated documents and agreements.

 

You will be able to communicate and influence effectively and inspire confidence in internal colleagues (including at a senior level) as they grapple with high profile and often challenging issues.

 

You will hold tertiary qualifications in law and hold a practising certificate in NSW.

 

Experience working within the government sector is not essential.
