Purpose of the Job
The Power Supply and Power Distribution Installation Superintendent is responsible for supervising and coordinating all site activities related to the installation, testing, and pre-commissioning of power supply and electrical distribution systems. The role ensures that all works are completed safely, on schedule and in compliance with project specifications, quality standards, and applicable regulations.
- Key Responsibilities
Construction Management
- Supervise and coordinate installation activities for power supply and power distribution systems.
- Ensure construction works are executed according to approved drawings, specifications, and method statements.
- Monitor daily site activities and ensure work progress aligns with project schedules.
- Coordinate manpower, equipment, materials, and subcontractors to achieve project objectives.
- Identify and resolve construction issues and technical challenges.
Electrical Installation Supervision
- Oversee installation of:
- Medium Voltage (MV) and Low Voltage (LV) systems
- Lighting and small power
- Power transformers
- Switchgear and switchboards
- Cable trays, conduits, and cable routing
- Power and control cabling
- Distribution panels and protection systems
- Grounding and lightning protection systems
- Verify installation quality and compliance with approved NONO drawing.
Safety Management
- Ensure compliance with project Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) requirements.
- Conduct toolbox talks and safety briefings.
- Implement safe work practices and permit-to-work procedures.
- Monitor site safety performance and immediately address unsafe conditions.
Quality Control
- Ensure installation activities comply with project quality plans and inspection requirements.
- Coordinate inspections with QA/QC personnel and client representatives.
- Review Inspection and Test Plans (ITP), method statements, and work procedures.
- Monitor punch-list closeout activities.
Testing and Commissioning Support
- Coordinate commissioning activities.
- Support testing of electrical equipment.
- Verify proper documentation of test results, Installation test plan, installation release notice.
Planning and Reporting
- Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly progress reports.
- Monitor project milestones and identify schedule risks.
- Participate in planning and coordination meetings.
- Track material deliveries and installation progress.
- Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree or Diploma in Electrical Engineering or related field.
- Relevant trade certification or professional accreditation is an advantage.
- Strong knowledge of power supply and power distribution systems.
- Experience
- Minimum 8-15 years of experience in electrical construction projects.
- At least 5 years in a supervisory or superintendent role.
- Experience in industrial, infrastructure, railway, metro, power plant, oil & gas, or large-scale building projects is preferred.
