About the role

The Box Gum Woodland (BGW) Local Area Management Plan (LAMP) is a flagship restoration program focused on one of NSW’s most endangered ecological communities. Delivered in partnership with Transgrid, DCCEEW and Yass Area Network of Landcare Groups, it aims to improve the extent, condition and connectivity of Box Gum Woodland across the Southern Tablelands.

This is a unique opportunity for a Conservation Project Officer to contribute to a community-led initiative on a 2 year fixed-term basis.  You will work across stakeholder engagement, strategy and on-ground delivery to drive lasting conservation outcomes at landscape scale.  In addition, you will develop an evidence-based LAMP using ecological, spatial and stakeholder inputs, engage landholders, Landcare, Aboriginal communities and partner agencies, and support project coordination to deliver landscape-scale restoration outcomes.

 

About you

You will have strong communication skills and experience preparing technical reports, management plans and stakeholder communications.  You will also support stakeholder engagement including facilitating community meetings, workshops and engagement activities.

  • Relevant qualification in environmental science, ecology, natural resource management or a related field (or equivalent experience).
  • Current driver's licence.
  • Ability to work independently, manage competing priorities and contribute to a team environment.
  • Experience in ecological restoration, monitoring or landscape-scale projects (desirable).
  • GIS skills, including spatial analysis and map preparation (desirable).

Applicants must be willing to undertake travel within NSW, including overnight stays.
