Our RF microwave and antenna solutions support Electronic Warfare (EW), Intelligence, Surveillance, and Reconnaissance (ISR), Radar, Positioning, Navigation, and Timing (PNT), Telemetry, Tracking, Command & Datalink, and Communications helping customers achieve reliability, resilience, and high performance in the harshest operating environments.

The Mechanical Designer supports the development, documentation, and integration of high-reliability electronic and electromechanical products used in military, aerospace, and RF/microwave applications. This position focuses on electronic packaging design, 3D modeling, engineering documentation, and mechanical problem solving associated with RF assemblies, antennas, control devices, and related systems. The role requires a highly proficient SOLIDWORKS® user with a strong mechanical design aptitude toward design, creativity, and independently solving mechanical packaging and integration challenges. You will work closely with cross-functional engineering and manufacturing teams throughout the product lifecycle.

Responsibilities:  

  • Create detailed 3D solid models, fabrication drawings, assembly drawings, and related engineering documentation using SOLIDWORKS® and Solidworks® PDM .
  • Develop mechanical packaging solutions for RF/microwave assemblies, antennas, control devices, and related electromechanical products.
  • Design and document assemblies involving machined parts, additive manufacturing features, sheet metal components, connectors, PCBs, cables, motors, gears, bearings, and related hardware.
  • Independently solve mechanical layout, packaging, tolerance, and integration challenges with limited supervision.
  • Support product development from concept through prototype, production release, and sustaining engineering activities.
  • Create and maintain parts, BOMs, drawings, and engineering documentation within PLM and Solidworks® PDM document/data control systems.
  • Generate and process Engineering Change Orders/Notices (ECOs/ECNs).
  • Apply ASME Y14.5 drafting standards, GD&T, Design for Manufacturability (DFM), and Design to Cost (DTC) principles.
  • Coordinate with Mechanical, Electrical, Manufacturing, PCB, Test, Quality, and Procurement personnel to support product integration and resolve technical issues.
  • Participate in design reviews, prototype builds, troubleshooting, and production support activities.
  • Support legacy documentation updates using AutoCAD® as required.
  • Communicate technical information effectively both verbally and in writing.
  • Other related duties as assigned.

Requirements

 Technical Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  

  • Proficiency using SOLIDWORKS® is required.
  • Functional proficiency using Solidworks® PDM is required.
  • Strong understanding of mechanical design fundamentals including tolerancing, materials, fasteners, thermal considerations, and structural integrity.
  • Strong understanding of ASME Y14.5 drafting standards and Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing (GD&T).
  • Understanding of electromechanical components including connectors, PCBs, cables, motors, gears, and bearings.
  • Familiarity with manufacturing processes such as machining, additive manufacturing, sheet metal fabrication, welding, and mechanical assembly techniques.
  • Familiarity with PLM systems and configuration-controlled documentation practices.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude, deductive reasoning, troubleshooting, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Ability to independently develop practical mechanical packaging and integration solutions.
  • Effective verbal, written, organizational, and multi-tasking skills.
  • Ability to work effectively within cross-functional engineering and manufacturing teams.
  • Working knowledge of AutoCAD® is preferred.

Experience:

  • Minimum of three (3) years of applicable mechanical design experience is preferred.
  • Experience in military, aerospace, or high-reliability electronics industry is a plus.

Education: Associate degree in Arts/Science (A.A./A.S.), technical/trade school, or military training is preferred. Equivalent applicable experience will be considered.

Security: U.S. citizenship required. U.S. citizenship is required to obtain a government security clearance.
