Job Title: Senior SATCOM Engineer - Tiger Team 
Location: Joint Training Center (JTC), Jordan


Job Responsibilities

The Senior SATCOM Engineer will be responsible for designing, installing, maintaining and supporting Local Area Network (LAN), Wireless Area Network (WAN) and Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) infrastructures. Provide high-level technical support for voice and data network systems, creates and maintains network documentation, maintains hardware and software standards, and works projects as needed in order to upgrade to new and/or improved communication equipment and procedures.  

 

  • Provide Tier 2 and/or Tier 3 network support for complex enterprise WAN and LAN environments. 
  • Deliver Tier 2 and/or Tier 3 support for advanced RF systems. 
  • Troubleshoot, identify root causes, and resolve network and system issues. 
  • Monitor and resolve service requests in accordance with established SLAs. 
  • Review and assist in developing desktop management policies and procedures for enterprise use. 
  • Support establishment and enforcement of best practices for network management, including configuration, monitoring, patch management, and security. 
  • Operate and maintain Satellite Modems, Redundancy Switches, associated cables and interconnects; Up/Down Converters; High Power Amplifiers (HPAs); Low Noise Amplifiers (LNAs); Low Noise Block (LNB); waveguide joints and connections; Intermediate Frequency (IF) cables and connections; Antennas and motors; Solid State Power Amplifiers (SSPA); Antenna Control Units (ACU); HVAC units; Uninterruptible Power Supplies (UPS); and Generators (if applicable). 
  • Utilize Test Measurement and Diagnostic Equipment (TMDE) beyond Built-In-Test (BIT) capabilities for maintenance and troubleshooting. 
  • Manage and maintain telecommunications installation supplies and daily inventory. 
  • Operate and maintain Satellite Radios. 
  • Operate FDMA and TDMA modems. 
  • Operate and program iDirect, Linkway modems, and/or hubs. 
  • Manage all assigned terminals. 

Minimum Qualifications

  • Active, in-scope US Government issued Secret clearance (Interim Secret Clearance is acceptable). 
  • Due to the nature of the work and contract requirements, US Citizenship is required. 
  • Minimum of ten (10) years of experience supporting installation, repair, troubleshooting, or maintenance of satellite communications electronic systems or equipment. 
  • At least ten (10) years of experience operating and maintaining tactical satellite systems, including antenna controllers, SSPA, LNA/LNB, up/down converters, fiber optic/coax/Ethernet cables, FDMA and TDMA modems, and modem hub operations. 
  • Proven expertise with commercial and military satellite TDMA/FDMA modems. 
  • Required certifications: Network+ and Security+. 
  • Able to travel to support mission up to 100%. 

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Computer Science preferred, OR an Associates degree plus 12 total years of recent specialized experience, OR a certification plus 15 total years of recent specialized experience, OR 20 total years of recent specialized experience.
