To support our growing installed base and new customer projects across Australia, we are looking for a passionate and hands-on Field Service Engineer to join our team.

Job Description

The Role

As a Field Service Engineer, you will be responsible for the installation, commissioning, maintenance, troubleshooting, repair, and optimization of TOMRA's advanced sensor-based sorting systems across Australia.

You will act as a trusted technical expert for our customers, ensuring maximum equipment performance while building strong, long-term relationships.

This is a field-based position with regular travel across Australia and occasional international travel.

What You'll Do

  • Install, commission, test, maintain, and optimize TOMRA sorting systems.
  • Diagnose and resolve electrical, electronic, mechanical, software, and network-related issues. 
  • Provide exceptional technical support to customers and internal stakeholders. 
  • Deliver operator and maintenance training to customer teams.
  • Coordinate service activities, upgrades, and project-related work.
  • Prepare accurate service reports and documentation.
  • Identify opportunities for upgrades, improvements, and spare parts sales. 
  • Collaborate closely with Project Management, Sales, and Technical Support teams. 
  • Ensure all work is completed safely and in accordance with company and regulatory requirements. 

Qualifications

What We're Looking For

Required Qualifications

  • Qualification in Electrical, Mechanical, Mechatronics, or a related Engineering discipline. 
  • Minimum 3 years of experience supporting industrial equipment in a Field Service, Maintenance, or Technical Support environment. 
  • Strong troubleshooting skills in electrical and electronic systems.
  • Solid mechanical aptitude and hands-on approach to problem-solving. 
  • Strong communication and customer relationship skills.
  • Ability to work independently and manage priorities in a dynamic environment. 
  • Valid Driver's License.
  • Australian Citizen or Permanent Resident with unrestricted work rights. 

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with optical sorting technology.
  • Experience within the recycling industry.
  • Knowledge of industrial networking, IT systems, and cybersecurity concepts. 
  • Additional language skills.
