Tokio Marine Canada | Job Description

Role summary: We are looking for a QA Automation Analyst to help ensure the quality, reliability, and performance of TMCan technology solutions. This role will design, build, and maintain automated testing solutions across applications, APIs, integrations, reporting solutions, cloud platforms, and data-centric systems.

Who We Are

Tokio Marine Canada (TMCan) is a Canadian early-stage entrepreneurial commercial P&C insurer based in Toronto. We partner with select brokers to deliver tailored business insurance solutions across Canada. As part of the Tokio Marine Group, we are able to collaborate under a shared framework while maintaining autonomy and local decision making.

We support Canadian businesses in taking smart risks by delivering practical insurance solutions and exceptional service through trusted broker partnerships.

The Opportunity

As a QA Automation Engineer, you will work closely with developers, business analysts, data specialists, vendor partners, and business stakeholders to embed quality throughout the software delivery lifecycle. You will help build scalable automation frameworks, validate complex integrations and data flows, identify defects early, and improve release confidence across TMCan’s technology landscape.

This role is ideal for someone who enjoys solving technical problems, improving automation coverage, validating APIs and data platforms, and continuously enhancing testing practices in a modern Agile and cloud-enabled environment.

WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING

Quality Engineering & Test Automation

  • Design, develop, and maintain automated testing frameworks, reusable test assets, and automation utilities.
  • Develop and execute functional, regression, integration, API, data validation, and end-to-end testing activities.
  • Integrate automated testing into CI/CD pipelines to improve delivery quality and release confidence.
  • Create and maintain test strategies, test plans, test cases, automation scripts, and testing documentation.
  • Identify, document, track, and support the resolution of defects and quality risks.
  • Promote QA standards, automation best practices, shift-left testing, and continuous improvement across delivery teams.

Application, API & Data Validation

  • Validate business applications, workflows, APIs, integrations, and reporting solutions for quality, accuracy, and reliability.
  • Perform database validation, ETL testing, reconciliation activities, and data quality assurance.
  • Test reporting and analytics solutions, including cloud-based data platforms such as Snowflake.
  • Support testing of third-party applications, middleware, vendor integrations, and business-critical interfaces.
  • Test and validate insurance workflows and business processes across multiple applications.

Collaboration & Delivery

  • Collaborate with developers, business analysts, business stakeholders, vendors, and project teams to deliver high-quality solutions.
  • Participate in Agile/Scrum ceremonies, including sprint planning, backlog refinement, test planning, and defect triage.
  • Contribute to release planning, production readiness reviews, quality metrics, and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Support production issue analysis, root cause investigations, and post-release quality improvements as required.

WHO YOU ARE

You are a detail-oriented, analytical, and automation-minded quality professional who is passionate about building reliable technology solutions. You enjoy solving complex technical challenges, creating scalable automation frameworks, validating APIs and data flows, and collaborating with both technical and business teams to deliver strong outcomes.

You bring a proactive, team-oriented mindset and a commitment to continuous improvement. While Property & Casualty insurance experience is an asset, strong QA automation fundamentals, curiosity, and the ability to learn new systems and business domains are most important.

YOU BRING

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related discipline.
  • 3+ years of experience in software quality assurance, test automation, or quality engineering roles.
  • Experience designing, implementing, and maintaining scalable automated testing frameworks.
  • Experience testing enterprise applications, web applications, APIs, integrations, data platforms, and reporting solutions.
  • Experience working in Agile/Scrum delivery environments.
  • Experience supporting CI/CD pipelines and integrating automated tests into software delivery processes.
  • Exposure to cloud-hosted applications and services in AWS and/or Azure environments.
  • Exposure to data platforms, data pipelines, analytics, and reporting solutions, including Snowflake.
  • Property & Casualty insurance experience is considered an asset but is not required.
  • Experience working with commercial insurance platforms, policy administration systems, bordereau management solutions, or other enterprise business applications is considered an asset.
  • Equivalent combinations of education, certifications, and practical experience will be considered.

CORE COMPETENCIES & SOFT SKILLS

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
  • Collaborative and team-oriented mindset.
