Director of AI Engineering

We are looking for a Director of AI Engineering with 8-15 years of experience to lead the development of our AI capabilities from the ground up. You are a hands-on technical leader who thrives in ambiguity, has deep expertise in computer vision and production ML systems, and is excited by the prospect of building — not just scaling — an AI function. You'll own the entire ML pipeline and infrastructure end-to-end, making fast decisions on what to pursue and what to abandon. This is a greenfield opportunity at a rapidly growing construction tech company where AI will define the next generation of our product.

What will you be doing?

Developing and executing the computer vision strategy across edge and cloud, including resource allocation and architectural decisions within the first 60 days

Running rapid experimentation to determine how LLMs/LVMs can be combined with custom CV models to elevate the product's value proposition for construction customers

Building initial prototypes and proof-of-concepts yourself before pulling in ICs to scale promising ideas

Leading and growing a small team of ML engineers (currently 2, scaling to 5-10 over the next year), with minimal management overhead and maximum technical contribution

Fine-tuning open-source large vision and language models with construction-specific imagery and data to solve domain-specific problems
