Temporary Setter
About this role
The Temporary Tiffany Workshop Setter should possess the advanced skills and expertise required to set all types of techniques for diamonds and colored stones within high jewelry pieces and in accordance with Tiffany & Co.'s aesthetic and quality standards. Additionally, the artisan must be able to evaluate and recommend optimal stone layouts for new products and consistently maintain minimal stone breakage and loss.
Key Accountabilities
- Set diamonds and colored stones using pave, cutdown, bright cut, fancy prong, bead, channel and burnishing setting techniques.
- Inspect mountings 100% prior to setting and review work after setting completion
- Count and record individual daily productions results, verify accuracy of work orders, reconcile all stones used in work orders, and notify Manager of any discrepancies.
- Prioritize quality by conducting self-inspections throughout the manufacturing process
- Sustain compliance with all company policies and procedures including but not limited to safety, confidentiality, security and attendance.
- Work safely at all times by consistently following safe work procedures for Setters, as well as all safety procedures required at your worksite. Promptly report all incidents and safety issues to your supervisor. Contributes to 5S improvements as demonstrated at your workstation and within the department
Required Qualifications:
- Extensive knowledge and experience in all setting techniques – ability to evaluate the space needed for setting pave or beadwork, and provide stone layouts in model or castings
- Experience working with precious metals, diamonds and colored stones
- Demonstrated verbal and written communication skills with the ability to effectively interact with clients and multiple staff levels
- Proficient in organizational, interpersonal and partnership skills
- Ability to adapt to changing priorities and willingness to change responsibilities within the department to support business needs
- Experience performing and troubleshooting setting repairs
- Flexibility to work overtime and/or modified work schedules to support business needs
- Experience setting under a microscope
- Onsite 5 days a week
- Duration of Assignment: Approximately 3-6 months
Preferred Qualifications:
- Gemological Certification (Diamond and Colored Gemstones).
- Technical understanding of polishing and jewelry manufacturing techniques.
- Knowledge/experience of a Laser Welder Machine.
The hiring range for this position ranges from $35.00 - $46.00 per hour. The rate of pay offered will be dependent upon candidates’ relevant skills and experience.
