The Modular Nesting
Machine Operator is responsible for setting up, operating, and maintaining CNC
nesting machines used for cutting and optimizing wood-based panels for modular
furniture production. The role ensures precise cutting, maximum material utilization,
consistent quality, and safe machine operation in a high-volume manufacturing
environment.
Roles and
Responsibilities:
- Set up and operate CNC modular nesting
machines as per production drawings and cut files.
- Load and unload panels such as plywood,
MDF, and particle boards safely and accurately.
- Upload and verify CNC programs, nesting
layouts, and job files before execution.
- Monitor machine parameters including
spindle speed, feed rate, and cutting depth.
- Ensure accurate cutting, drilling,
grooving, and routing operations as per design.
- Optimize material usage and minimize
wastage through proper nesting practices.
- Inspect finished components for
dimensional accuracy and edge quality.
- Perform routine machine cleaning, tool
inspection, and basic maintenance.
- Identify tool wear, breakage, or machine
errors and report to maintenance team.
- Maintain production logs, job cards, and
follow SOPs strictly.
- Adhere to safety protocols, PPE usage, and
maintain a clean work area.
- Coordinate with design, production, and
quality teams to meet daily target
Requirements
- Experience operating CNC nesting machines
or similar woodworking CNC equipment.
- Basic knowledge of CAD/CAM software and
CNC programming concepts.
- Understanding of wood-based materials and
cutting tools.
- Strong attention to detail and quality
control.
- Ability to read production drawings and
work instructions.
- Willingness to work in shifts and under
production deadlines.
Preferred
Experience
- 1–3 years of experience in modular
furniture or panel-based manufacturing.
- Familiarity with CNC brands such as Homag,
Biesse, SCM, Felder, or similar.
