Summary:

The Maintenance Technician is responsible for safely performing a wide variety of semi-skilled maintenance, inspection, service, and repair activities to ensure maximum production quantity and quality, while supporting the policies, goals and objectives of VPI. The maintenance position will assist with facility and equipment projects, assist in ensuring timely and accurate service, including preventative and predictive maintenance and repair services.

Starting Wage Range: $21-26 hourly

Position Responsibilities:

  • Work in a collaborative team environment on various maintenance, manufacturing & facility projects to help meet the demands of our growing company.

Maintenance: Manufacturing, facility

  • Perform regular and preventive maintenance procedures for most production and support equipment. This could include (but is not limited to) lasers, robots, air compressors, power tools, fabrication, welding equipment, and HVAC.
  • Documentation of all work completed to assure that equipment and maintenance meets established standards (e.g. VPI, OSHA, USDOT, etc. as relevant) using VPI systems (Excel, Intranet, SYSPRO).
  • Troubleshoot and identify mechanical failures and problems, recommend corrective action and carry out necessary repairs in a timely manner to restore equipment to operation as required.

Equipment: Installation and start up

  • Ability and understanding to perform small equipment installations with some supervision.

Facility: Assist with infrastructure installations, improvements, changes, etc.

  • Ability and understanding to assist with minor and major facility additions, restructures and improvements.
  • Ability to conceptualize, design and fabricate small parts for facilities, equipment, and maintenance.
  • Maintain a positive work atmosphere by performing and communicating in a manner that promotes good relationships with customers, co-workers, and management.
  • Maintain safe working habits and environments and follow all applicable safety standards and procedures.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma/equivalent or applicable experience.
  • Must have a valid Ohio driver’s license and meet approval from VPI’s insurance carrier to operate VPI fleet vehicles.
  • Good written and listening/communication skills.
  • Self-motivated individual who understands the importance of time constraints & schedules. Must occasionally be available to work evenings and weekends when required.
  • Experience in troubleshooting mechanical failures.
  • Ability to read, understand and interpret mechanical and operational information.
  • Able to read, understand and interpret prints, drawings and schematics.
  • Basic knowledge of computer programs such as Word, Excel, Email, etc.
  • Fabrication & Welding skills with a working knowledge equipment such as Welder, Drill, Lathe, Shear, Press Break, etc.
  • Assembly skills with a good knowledge of using general hand tools.
  • Must be able to work off ladders, scissors lifts, etc., at ceiling and roof heights and operate forklifts in a safe and productive manner.
  • Must be able to occasionally lift 50 lbs and have the ability to stand, squat and walk for long periods of time.
  • Have a basic understanding of industrial electrical systems for troubleshooting and repairs. Standard AC (110-480 volt), as well as 12 volt systems.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Minimum of two years working in a preventative and repair maintenance program in an industrial or mechanical environment.
  • Experience in preventative and repair maintenance of industrial equipment.
  • CAD experience (AutoCAD, SolidEdge, SolidWorks, etc.)
  • Maintenance training certificates.
