SUMMARY
The Assistant Operations Manager supports the daily execution of delivery and installation operations while assisting with workforce management, contractor performance, customer satisfaction, and operational compliance. This role partners with the site management to monitor operational performance, support employees and independent contractors, address service issues, and help ensure customer requirements are met. Depending on location structure, the position may provide direct supervision and development of employees while supporting overall operational performance and service execution.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Support the day-to-day execution of delivery and installation operations to ensure customer expectations and service commitments are achieved.
- Assist in supervising and developing employees and independent contractor teams, providing coaching, guidance, and performance feedback as needed.
- Support recruiting, onboarding, training, and retention efforts for employees and independent contractors.
- Help ensure all delivery teams are properly qualified, documented, and prepared for daily route execution, including required licensing, insurance, certifications, equipment, and customer-specific requirements.
- Assist with monitoring operational KPIs, including route completion, service failures, customer satisfaction, productivity, dropped routes, and reschedule performance.
- Assist in addressing employee, contractor, and operational performance concerns and support corrective actions when necessary.
- Support daily staffing, routing and driver team capacity planning to meet customer service requirements.
- Coordinate resolution of delivery, installation, customer service, and when needed contractor-related issues.
- Build and maintain positive relationships with customers, employees, independent contractors, and internal teams.
- Support customer communications and service recovery efforts related to operational issues and escalations.
- Assist with contractor qualification, onboarding, and compliance processes.
- Partner with operations leadership to address any identified service concerns and improvement plans.
- Conduct operational meetings, training sessions, and performance discussions with employees and contractors as needed.
Education and Experience
Four (4) year college degree in Business, Supply Chain Logistics, or related field preferred. Minimum of two (2) years’ experience in the transportation, logistics, or related industry required. Experience working in a dispatch or operations support or management role required. Valid state driver’s license required.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Intermediate working knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Outlook, Word, and other MS Office products. Ability to work in a team environment and demonstrate flexibility and patience. Excellent organization, communication, and problem-solving skills. Ability to multi-task and manage time effectively. Ability to sufficiently read, speak, and write English in order to understand and give directions, and to complete paperwork accurately. Ability to operate a variety of standard office equipment as dictated by the duties of the job and perform data entry and typing functions.
Physical Demands and Working Conditions
Work is primarily performed in a climate-controlled environment. Occasionally requires work performed in a non-climate-controlled warehouse or outside environment. Requires sitting, walking, and standing. Occasionally requires bending and stooping. Occasionally requires standing and walking for long periods of time. Ability to lift and stack items weighing up to 30 pounds over head, and lift and stack items weighing up to 65 pounds to chest height and carry them a distance of fifty feet. Occasional ability to climb ladders, stairs, and ramps and perform moderately heavy labor in various weather conditions and temperatures. Work performed requires the use of hands to control or feel objects and will utilize repetitive movements when entering data. Requires the use of clear speech communicated to others and understanding the speech of another person. Requires the ability to see details of objects within close range.
