Job Description:
As the Seasonal Assistant you will provide critical support to the Youth and Family Services Coordinator in the forms of organization, preparation, clerical, transportation, and physical labor to the many seasonal events of The Salvation Army in Central Indiana, ensuring that the Mission of The Salvation Army is effectively carried out.
What You Will Do:
- Help to schedule (and oversee if necessary) pick-ups, deliveries, and other details associated with receiving and distributing donations and other items
- Provide support for (and oversee if necessary) the moving, setting up, and packing up of supplies for events and volunteer opportunities
- Interact in a professional manner with volunteers, staff and stakeholders at events, ensuring everyone has what they need to ensure the event’s success
- Drive the transit van to transport necessary supplies and donations
- Maintain inventories and organization of Angel Tree supplies as needed, notifying supervisor or designee of needed items
- Assist with all aspects of the Angel Tree program, including, but not limited to the application and adoption processes, delivery of angel tags to businesses and churches, pick up of toys, set up and tear down of event
- Assist in developing solutions for challenges brought up in the Angel Tree process
- Perform various clerical duties to support the Angel Tree and Coats for Kids Program
- Assist in all shared inboxes, TSAMM and training volunteers as needed
- Other tasks and duties as assigned by leadership
Minimum Qualifications: The requirements listed below are representative of the minimal education, experience, skills, and/or abilities required for this position.
Education: High School Diploma or equivalent
Background Checks: Position requires a background check to be completed, and all background check results will be reviewed.
Experience: Experience organizing materials, overseeing inventory, and providing active support to a team is helpful.
Certifications: Must have a valid driver’s license (DOT license preferred) and maintain The Salvation Army Driver’s qualification standard; must complete Safe From Harm training within the first 30 days of employment.
Skills/Abilities:
- Able to speak, write and understand English in a manner sufficient for effective communication with leadership, field personnel, and clientele.
- Computer proficiency with Microsoft products and ability to learn electronic reporting systems.
- Able to problem-solve and work independently on assigned tasks with minimal supervision

- Ability to communicate effectively and receive information necessary to perform the essential functions of the position.

- Driving and operating a box truck
Travel: Travel restricted to Central Indiana Counties
Working Conditions: Work is performed in office, warehouse, and church environments; may require some weekend and evening work
