Pay: $15.75 per hour
Schedule: Full-Time | 40 Hours Per Week
Hours: Monday-Friday, 7:30 AM-4:00 PM
Reports To: Property & Maintenance Manager

As a Maintenance Worker, you'll play a key role in keeping our rehabilitation center, warehouse, thrift stores, and administrative facilities safe, clean, and operational. Every repair, project, and improvement helps us continue our mission of Doing the Most Good®.

What You'll Do

Facility Maintenance & Repairs

  • Perform general building maintenance and repairs, including basic plumbing, electrical, carpentry, painting, and HVAC support
  • Complete preventative maintenance tasks to ensure facilities remain safe and functional
  • Maintain flooring through cleaning, buffing, and upkeep
  • Respond to maintenance requests across multiple Salvation Army locations

Grounds & Property Care

  • Perform lawn care, landscaping, mowing, and grounds maintenance
  • Assist with snow and ice removal during winter months
  • Help maintain safe and welcoming exterior properties year-round

Operational Support

  • Move furniture, equipment, fixtures, and donated materials as needed
  • Assist with room setups and teardowns for programs, events, and operational needs
  • Escort and assist vendors and contractors while on-site
  • Drive Salvation Army vehicles to transport supplies and materials between locations

Other Duties

  • Support special projects and facility improvement initiatives
  • Perform additional maintenance-related duties as assigned

Qualifications

Required

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent
  • Minimum of 1 year of maintenance experience
  • Valid driver's license
  • Ability to obtain and maintain an acceptable Motor Vehicle Record (MVR)

Preferred Skills

  • Basic plumbing knowledge
  • Basic electrical repair experience
  • Painting and drywall repair skills
  • Experience using hand and power tools
  • Familiarity with lawn and snow removal equipment

Physical Requirements

This is an active, hands-on position requiring the ability to:

  • Stand, walk, bend, stoop, kneel, and climb regularly
  • Lift and carry up to 50 pounds frequently
  • Lift up to 100 pounds occasionally
  • Work both indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions
  • Travel between local Salvation Army properties as needed

Travel Requirements

Regular travel between local Salvation Army facilities is required. Agency vehicles will be provided for work-related travel.

Qualifications

What You Need

Required

Education & Experience

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Minimum one year of related maintenance experience

Skills & Abilities

  • Basic painting and electrical skills
  • Proficient with small hand tools
  • Experience with equipment operation (lawnmowers, snow blowers, carpet cleaning equipment, buffers)
  • Ability to work independently and manage time effectively
  • Strong attention to detail

Required Certifications

  • Valid driver's license
  • Ability to pass MVR check

Physical Requirements

  • Regularly required to stand, use hands, handle, feel, hear, and talk
  • Frequently required to walk and reach with hands and arms
  • Occasionally required to climb, balance, stoop, kneel, or crouch
  • Must regularly lift/move up to 50 pounds
  • Occasionally lift/move up to 100 pounds
  • Specific vision abilities include close vision, distance vision, and focus adjustment
