Position Summary: Under general supervision from the Fitness Manager, the Fitness Lead performs professional duties in planning, developing, coordinating, implementing, supervising health and wellness programs for the Grand Rapids Ray and Joan Kroc Corps Community Center.


Essential Responsibilities:
• Assist the Fitness Manager in planning, developing, coordinating implementing and supervising health & wellness programs.
- Assist the Fitness Manager in monitoring and documenting the use of all equipment and health & wellness spaces.
- Assists Manager in planning, organizing, developing, scheduling, facilitating, and evaluating health & wellness programs including Fit Kids and roster programs as necessary.
- Maintain inventory of supplies and equipment; distribute supplies and equipment; assist with ordering supplies and equipment for health & wellness programs.
- Assist with preparing and administering individual program or facility budgets as appropriate; monitor expenditures and payroll in accordance with established procedures.
- Coordinate and provide fitness floor orientations.
- May serve as a personal trainer, instructor or substitute as assigned.
• Assist with recruiting, training, supervising, and scheduling recreation employees and instructors.
- Assists with hiring, training, supervising, scheduling, and evaluating part-time and seasonal personnel; assigns work as necessary.
- Recruit, train and supervise volunteer staff.
- Conduct and attend a variety of training seminars, staff meetings, coaching clinics, and community meetings when directed.
- May coordinate and supervise staff on weeknights, weekends, and holidays.
• Assist in the development and implementation of safety policies and procedures for the health & wellness areas of the facility.
-To work with Manager in the development of health and fitness safety policies and procedures. This will include the development and overseeing of risk assessments for programs and program areas.
- Monitor and assure proper usage of building amenities.
- May perform emergency custodial maintenance work. Set up tables, sports equipment, chairs, and bleachers for classes and programs.
- Schedule maintenance for health and wellness areas and supervise condition of facilities.
- May open and close the operations of the RJKCCC.
- May provide security for the building and grounds. In addition, makes safety checks on the facility and eliminate hazards to ensure complete safety of members and program participants.
• Assist with the scheduling of health & wellness spaces and facilities.

- Assist in integrating the health & wellness spaces into the facility as a whole and being able to coordinate what is taking place in that portion of the building along with the rest if the building so as to avoid schedule overlap and exceeding facility capacity.
- Assist in the development of classes, schedules, and implementation of activities, and programs, while coordinating with the health & wellness programs for facility usage.

Qualifications:
Education/Experience:
• Bachelor’s Degree in Exercise Science, Kinesiology, Sports Administration, relevant field preferred or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• High school diploma or GED equivalency.
• 1 + years’ experience in a fitness setting. Experience in personal training, group exercise instructing, program development, and supervising fitness facilities preferred.
• Must be able to work weekday evenings and Saturday mornings
Skills, Knowledge & Abilities:
• Must be able to read, write and communicate in English. Ability to read, write and communicate in Spanish desired.


Computer Skills:
• Proficient in Microsoft Office 365
• Working knowledge of TEAMS and SharePoint


Certificates and Licenses:
• Must have a personal training/instructor certification by a national accredited organization such as NASM, ACSM, NSCA, ACE or AFAA or be able to obtain within 90 days of hire.
• Have CPR/AED/First Aid certification or obtain within 45 days.
• Complete Safe From Harm Training, and keep current as needed

PART TIME – 20-29 hours
