Job Description:
Position Purpose summary:
The Community Partnerships Coordinator plans and directs the fundraising and public relations programs for community ministries. The community partnerships coordinator does this by building relationships and partnerships with the community, both individuals and corporations. The position will work with community ministries director and corps officer to develop the annual fundraising plan, initiate and maintain communication with current and potential partners, and will attend and speak at local community events and community organizations. The Community Partnerships Coordinator will also head up the annual Christmas Kettle campaign.
Accountabilities:
The incumbent may perform all, some, or similar duties to the listed below:
- Develop relationships with community partners - individuals, community groups and local businesses.
- Lead and coordinate overall community partnerships, fundraising and donor relations programs.
- Create sustainable and long term relationships with community partners, donors, and corporate sponsors.
- Oversee donor database ensuring data accuracy and integrity. Design plans to track and monitor donors, donation history, donor stewardship and follow up.
- Collaborate with CMD and Corps officers to shape annual and multi-year engagement and fundraising plan.
- Plan and execute annual multi-platform fund raising campaigns including direct mail, email, social media, donor engagement events, fundraising events and community events.
- Help plan and lead annual fund-raising events such as Shred A Thon, Plant a Row For Us, Kickoff event, Parking events, Santa Shuffle, Puzzle sale and others.
- Oversee community awareness programs such as, Plant a Row For, Classic Car Show, Community Resource fairs, etc.
- Help design and produce unit marketing and public relations materials (brochures, flyers, banners etc.)
- Donor stewardship including personal communication, email updates, etc.
- Regularly speaks with local community service clubs and schools (Rotary, Kiwanis, Lions)
- Leverages community relationships to create engagement opportunities . Works with volunteer coordinator to recruit and help organizes the volunteers for large events. Ex. Christmas Hamper Day, Sardis Farm Harvest Day.
- Promotes volunteer opportunities as part of ongoing work in presenting at local groups such as schools, service clubs, etc.
- Use and manage all social media platforms for fundraising and informational posts, ensuring compliance with the brand standards and policies set by THQ/DHQ.
- Ensure advertising for community ministry events in collaboration with CMD to ensure that all it is done within budget and is compliant with the brand standards and policies set by THQ/DHQ.
- Participates in the development of the department budget, operates within the approved budget for financial control, and ensures optimum utilization of resources
- Prepare reports and present them to CMD and Corps Officers.
- May be required to act as spokesperson for The Salvation Army Community Ministries.
Christmas Kettles
- Responsible for oversite and plan for Christmas Kettle Program, working with Corps Officers and CMD.
- Work with the Corps officers to secure strategic kettle locations throughout the community and liaise with locations before. during and in appreciation. after the campaign.
- Oversee Kettle supervisor who will manage kettle schedule to ensure maximum coverage of all kettles shifts and locations by organizing shifts with volunteers. service groups and approved kettle workers.
- Oversee Kettle supervisor/volunteers to coordinate the drop off and pick-ups of kettles/stands/supplies as well as the counting team and deposits of money daily.
- Maintain a year round focus, promoting awareness and building partnerships for the kettle campaign in consultation with the CMD and Corps officers.
Working Conditions:
- Will be expected to travel throughout community to meet with potential partners, attend community events, speak for and represent The Salvation Army at appropriate events and community service groups.
- Note: While representing The Salvation Army, formal or informal uniform is to be worn when making presentations or receiving goods/ funds.

Education, Experience, AND Qualifications:
- Awareness of the basic tenets of Christianity and willingness to develop an understanding and support for the mission and purpose of The Salvation Army in Canada and its implications as related to position responsibilities.
- Work in compliance with OH&S Act and Regulations and abide by The Salvation Army’s health and safety policies and procedures.
Education, Qualifications and Certifications:
- Completion of a formal post-secondary/college program of two academic years is required (Marketing, Public Administration, Business preferred)
- Bachelor level degree will be considered as a strong asset.
- Ability and willingness to undergo applicable screening and background checks successfully that are satisfactory to The Salvation Army, in its sole discretion (i.e., The Salvation Army Abuse Registry) and provide an original copy of a Background Check screening.
Experience and Knowledge:
- Minimum of three years of relevant experience including facilitation and special event management, fundraising and marketing and/ or media relations
- Strong Public speaking and presentation skills required.
- Intermediate Skills in MSOffice 365 (Excel. TEAMS, Word, PPT) to prepare/present information.
- Some knowledge of graphic design software (photoshop, Canva) preferred.
- Valid Class 5 driver's license.
Skills and Capabilities:
- Very good interpersonal and people skills.
- Must be self-motivated and able to work alone and with a team.
- Creativity: creative skills needed in program and marketing materials design. as well as creative approach to problem-solving.
- Planning: experience in special events management, event risk management, program evaluation.
- Fundraising and Donor Development: able to speak into annual fundraising, establish information tracking processes regarding acknowledgement, recognition, on-going communications, and continued cultivation of past & current donors.
- Community Relations: ability to create meaningful connections to individuals from various sectors, such as corporations, higher education, social agencies etc. Has an understanding of current community issues/needs.
- Communication: excellent communication (oral/written) and interpersonal skills that are effective with a diverse range of audiences, volunteers, internal staff, faith -based organizations, donors, potential funding partners and our community members; strong sense of integrity and confidentiality with professional ethics and a balanced sense of fairness and flexibility
- Volunteer Engagement: Leads with effective volunteer engagement principles to promote excellence and strong teams.
- Vision and Values: exemplifying highly ethical standards of conduct; knowledge, understanding, and a commitment to equity, diversity, and inclusion. Must be self-motivated and able to work alone and with a team.
Compensation:
The target hiring range for this position is $48,048.00 to $60,070.40 with a maximum of $72,072.00.Placement in the salary range will be based on factors such as market conditions, internal equity, and candidate experience, skills, and qualifications relevant to the role.
