About this role
Position Overview
The manager, Salesforce, is responsible for the strategic direction, governance, administration, and ongoing enhancement of the organization's CRM platforms, including Salesforce, Salesforce Marketing Cloud and SmartSimple (grants management). The manager leads a team of Salesforce professionals, works closely with business stakeholders, and partners with vendors and consultants to achieve business goals. This position combines people leadership, hands-on platform administration, solution design oversight, governance, and roadmap planning. This position requires initiative, independent judgment, and the ability to manage technical operations and projects across a broad range of programmatic and operational areas.
This position is remote and reports to the Senior Manager, Microsoft and Salesforce Technologies.
Responsibilities
· Serve as the platform owner for Salesforce, related CRM solutions, and ancillary applications, accountable for day-to-day health and long-term direction in alignment with organizational priorities.
· Directly manage team members, setting work priorities in alignment with team priorities and needs. Reviews and monitors work progress and sets appropriate performance targets and goals.
· Build and maintain platform roadmaps for core Salesforce functionality, Marketing Cloud, and SmartSimple (grants management), aligning emerging technology with business needs, prioritizing incoming requests for value and impact, and ensuring clear communication and transparency with all relevant stakeholders.
· Create solution designs for new requests, partnering with stakeholders to shape requirements and negotiate toward simple, scalable, maintainable architectures that reduce platform complexity and long-term support burden.
· Configure and administer Salesforce and CRM solutions based on user requests, new releases, and ongoing system needs.
· Enforce Salesforce architecture and implementation standards, ensuring all changes comply with established best practices and maintainability requirements through design reviews and oversight of delivery.
· Manage contracts, vendor relationships, and budget planning for Salesforce-related activities.
· Foster a work environment that is diverse, equitable, inclusive, and accessible and in line with Pew and department goals.
· Other duties as assigned.
Requirements
· Generally requires a minimum of 8 years of professional experience, including staff, project, and/or consultant management experience. Including four or more years of hands-on experience with Salesforce; a bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience required
· Two or more years of direct supervisory experience, including performance management.
· Demonstrated success in operations or project management roles, working collaboratively with cross-functional teams.
· Foster a work environment that is diverse, equitable, inclusive, and accessible and in line with Pew and department goals
· Experience in business analysis, requirements gathering, and solution design.
· Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
· Salesforce certification preferred (Administrator, App Builder, Architect, etc.).
· Experience in nonprofit or advocacy-driven organizations preferred.
Travel
This position requires quarterly travel to Pew’s Washington DC office.
Salary Range
United States Pay Range: $158,500 - $177,200The salary range represents a reasonable estimate of the annual salary based on Pew’s commitment to provide equitable and market-competitive pay. The actual salary offered will take into consideration many factors including but not limited to job-related knowledge, skills and experience, internal pay equity, and business need.
