The Olympic Club, a private member athletic and country club in San Francisco, seeks an Assistant Golf Professional. At The Olympic Club, our members enjoy 2 campuses, 19 sports, world-renowned golf courses, exceptional social and athletic programs as well as 18 hotel rooms and 5 Food & Beverage outlets. Our City Clubhouse is located one block from Union Square and within easy walking distance of the Powell Street BART station. Our Lakeside Clubhouse sits next to the ocean on the border of San Francisco and Daly City.
The Olympic Club offers employees free golf on Mondays at our Lakeside campus and a variety of sports and social events for employees throughout the year.
Essential functions and responsibilities:
- Heavy volume of day-to-day member and guest interactions in the Golf Pro Shop including member services, retail sales, counter work, telephone and email responses
- Organizes daily starting times and flow of play
- Assists with receiving merchandise, stocking shelves and shop displays
- Handles special merchandising orders from members and forwards appropriate information in a timely manner to Administrative Assistant / Buyer and Accountin
- Assists Director of Golf, Head Golf Pro and Assistant Head Golf Pro in the administration and coordination of tournament play for Men, Women, Senior and Junior events
- Coordinates reciprocal club play
- Assist members with club repairs, fittings, clinics, camps with the Assistant Head Pros
- If candidate has passed level 1 of the PGA, upon approval from the Director of Instruction, they will be able to provide instruction to members upon request
- Play golf with members and play in Professional NCPGA Tournaments
- Regular attendance required based on business expectations and needs
- Adheres to all federal, state, local and San Francisco laws and ordinances regarding health, safety and employment
Non-Essential Functions and Responsibilities:
- Administrative duties including but not limited to member group website email posting, ordering supplies, returning phone calls, corresponding via email, fax and phone
- Other duties as assigned by the supervisor/manager or other management of The Club
Qualifications Required:
- High School Diploma, GED or Equivalent
- PGA Class A member with a golf handicap of 5 or less
- Tournament experience and participation
- Full knowledge of golf rules, regulations and tournament play
- Ability to interact with all levels of membership
- Intermediate computer skills including experience using golf tournament software and member communications
- Fluent oral and written English communication skills
Qualifications Desired:
- Previous experience working as an Asst. Golf Pro at a member based club
- Previous retail/sales experience in a boutique or high end shop
