About this role

 

Hours: 10 am to 6:30 pm or 6:00 am to 2:30 pm, days vary

Key Functions 

Set up and restock food items in the soup, salad, and dessert areas of the server line assuring proper portions, temperature and appearance.  

a. Serves food to customers portioning food according to portion
control guidelines. 

b. Replenishes counters, salad bar and hot food table assuring that
adequate supply is always present.  

 

During serving hours, keeps the hot food serving line, salad, dessert and condiment areas clean and free of excess debris; attend to food items at all times. 

a. During hours of operation, server does not leave line. 

b. Assures a high degree of cleanliness during serving hours.
Continuously cleans and picks up as he/she works on service counter or salad
and vegetable bars.  

 

Serve food to patients, staff and visitors in a pleasant and courteous manner.  

a. Demonstrates behavior that promotes positive customer relations
with patients, staff and visitors.  

b. Demonstrates practices that honor the patient’s confidentiality. 

c. Follows patient rights at all times. 

 

Operates cash register during lunch and evening meals. 

a. Demonstrates an ability to operate cash register accurately and
without customer delays. 

b. Demonstrates an ability to count drawer correctly at beginning and
end of meal periods. 

 

Set up and restock food items in the dessert areas of the servery assuring proper appearance and amount of desserts.  

a. Replenishes counters, salad bar, to go utensils, foam cups and
other condiments as needed. 


Dietary Server has basic knowledge of computer skills, cafeteria style plating of food and inventory skills. 

a. Demonstrates knowledge of computer skills by printing tray orders
for delivery and pick ups. 

b. Understands different types of special diets ordered by
dietician/staff. 

c. Makes trays for patients according to portion control guidelines. 

d. Replenishes units with the correct amounts of all food and non
food items assuring that adequate supply is always present based on inventory
guidelines. 


Deliver food trays to patients/staff in a pleasant and courteous manner. 

a. Demonstrates behavior that promotes positive customer relations
with patients/staff. 

b. Demonstrates practices that honor the patient’s confidentiality. 

c. Follows patient rights at all times. 

Follow server duty sheet, tray line duty sheet and cashier duty sheet accordingly. 

Comply with division policies, procedures and safety standards and practice related to food service; wear food handler gloves and head cover when required; attend in-service training sessions as required. 

a. Wears freshly laundered uniforms. 

b. Wears hair cover. 

 

Education Preferred: 

  1. High School diploma or equivalent preferred.

 License/Certification Preferred: 

  1. Professional Food Sanitation and Service certification. 

 Experience 

  1. Familiarity with cafeteria and servery operations 
  2. Ability to set up cafeteria lines and set tables for banquets.
