This position reports to the Vice President of Operations – Texas & Mexico for Marmon Foodservice Technologies and serves as a key member of the Supply Chain / Operations Leadership Team.

The Director of Quality is responsible for providing quality leadership across two production facilities while serving as a visible leader throughout the organization, promoting a culture of quality both internally and in the marketplace. This role also has direct responsibility for the company's Supplier Quality Management processes.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

Leadership

  • Serve as a visible leader across the organization, driving the right behaviors and promoting cross-functional alignment while modeling the desired company culture.

  • Contribute as a member of the Supply Chain & Operations Leadership Team in developing the organization's strategic vision and operational plans.

Quality Strategy

  • Create and execute the vision to optimize quality performance across all MFT products, manufacturing locations, and third-party suppliers.

  • Develop and execute the MFT Texas & Mexico Quality Strategy aligned with Operations, Engineering, Supply Chain and Commercial objectives.

  • Establish annual quality objectives, KPIs and improvement roadmaps that support business growth and operational excellence.

  • Develop and maintain company-wide Total Cost of Quality (CoQ) metrics.

  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives that reduce quality costs while improving overall product quality.

Supplier Quality

  • Develop and manage supplier quality processes including:

    • New supplier qualification and assessment

    • Supplier onboarding

    • Supplier quality performance management

    • Launch quality evaluation from supplier PPAP, APQP, control plans and process capability where applicable

  • Establish and maintain incoming inspection processes and sampling guidelines.

Quality Management System (QMS)

  • Own and maintain the MFT Texas & Mexico Quality Management System (QMS).

  • Ensure quality strategy and QMS compliance across both manufacturing locations from Reynosa and McAllen / Pharr.

  • Partner with manufacturing leadership and Quality Engineers to identify and close compliance gaps.

  • Ensure compliance with ISO standards and other audit requirements included in our QMS.

  • Lead successful completion of customer quality audits.

Problem Solving & Corrective Actions

  • Lead the organization during production and supplier quality issues.

  • Quickly identify root causes and implement corrective actions.

  • Serve as the urgent action leader during significant quality events.

  • Utilize structured problem-solving tools ( ie. A3. 8D’s, 5 Why’s, etc)

Customer Quality / New Product

  • Partner with the Commercial organization on customer communications.

  • Serve as the technical quality representative during customer interactions.

  • Collaborating with Product Engineering to reduce warranty costs, improve field reliability and resolve design-related quality issues

  • Support New Product Development (NPD) activities by ensuring quality processes are incorporated into manufacturing from launch through production.

  • Ensure supplier quality readiness for new product introductions.

  • Stay informed on industry trends, competitive activities, and quality best practices, and recommend improvements that strengthen organizational quality performance.

Quality Metrics Priorities and Reporting

Ownership to meet objectives defined on the following Quality Metrics:

  • Cost of Poor Quality (COPQ) including Scrap and Rework

  • First Pass Yield (FPY)

  • Defects Per Million (DPPM)

  • Warranty Costs and Performance

  • Customer Complaints and Returns

  • Supplier Defects (PPM)

  • Ownership to manage both customer or external regulation agency audits, and closure for findings

  • Oversee corrective and preventive action (CAPA) systems.

  • Ability to set up along with direct reports proper weekly and monthly reports to track both leading and lagging indicators, quarterly reports and strategic action plans to enable compliance and improvement on these metrics.

Direct reporting structure / authority

  • Direct reporting from Quality Managers from both Reynosa and Pharr, and indirectly Quality Engineers from both locations

  • Authority to evaluate production in both facilities and stop production or shipments during significant quality events, or process deviations

  • Expectations to be hands-on on critical quality areas from initial evaluation, including definition for Quality Management System, Customer critical quality resolution and Quality Strategy, and be coach for tactical quality resolution and upgrades to current quality system in Reynosa

  • Ability to recruit and develop talent for quality function in Greenfield facility

Who You Are

The successful candidate should possess:

  • Minimum of 10 years of Quality experience within a B2B manufacturing environment with at least 5 years of leadership or management experience.

  • Experience establishing and implementing a Quality Management System (QMS) in a greenfield manufacturing operation, and develop requirements for process control, traceability and data driven quality management systems

  • Ensure compliance with applicable standards and regulations including:

    • ISO 9001, FDA requirements (where applicable)

    • NSF, UL, and CE Regulations.

    • Food-contact material requirements

  • Proven track record of establishing improvement targets and delivering measurable quality results.

  • Demonstrated ability to recruit, develop, and advance high-performing employees.

  • Experience developing Quality Management System (QMS) strategies and successfully executing continuous improvement plans across multiple facilities.

  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to motivate teams toward personal and professional success.

  • Experience operating successfully within challenging, fast-paced manufacturing environments.

  • Strong understanding of Quality Management, Lean Thinking and Continuous Improvement

  • Ability to balance customer needs with overall business and P&L objectives.

Required Qualifications, Skills & Competencies

  • Strong analytical and data-driven decision-making skills

  • Demonstrated statistical acumen is required Process Capability, ANOVA, DOE, Gage R&R, among others.

  • Expertise in ISO and ASTM standards and process / audit compliance

  • Customer-focused with strong presentation and communication skills

  • Willingness to travel as required

  • Ability to analyze, interpret, and communicate complex information across all organizational levels

  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment

  • Self-starter with a proactive mindset

  • Strong financial acumen with clear understanding of Profit & Loss (P&L) management and financial reporting

  • Bilingual: Spanish and English preferred

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Business Administration or related technical field. MBA degree a plus

  • Statistical Six-Sigma Green Belt required, or Black Belt formal certification preferred.

Location

  • Position is required to be on-site in Reynosa or McAllen
