Scientist, R&D – Product Development

Job Purpose

This is a Research and Development (R&D) role leading product development initiatives under the Snacking team within the Meat, Cheese, Coffee, and Snacking (MCCS) platform. We are looking for a talented individual to drive product R&D workstreams within beloved brands like Lunchables, P3, and OM Bites. This role will involve executing technical projects focused on innovation to impact short-term and long-term strategic initiatives.

Essential Functions & Responsibilities

  • This role has the responsibility of leading supply resiliency, renovation, quality improvement and maintenance projects within the Snacking category.

  • This role has responsibility for developing new product formulations, portfolio renovation, and customer product solutions across various product lines.

  • Work from ideation to commercialization, from benchtop samples to final production, and from raw material to finished product specifications.

  • Lead and complete product testing, qualification, and commercialization in laboratory and production environments.

  • Manage multiple assignments/development projects concurrently to meet R&D timelines.

  • Utilize ingredients and process knowledge, experimental design and data interpretation tools to make technically sound recommendations.

  • Collaborate with other colleagues within and outside of your immediate team.

  • Develop relationships with and coordinate commercialization activities across internal and external manufacturing facilities.

Expected Experience & Required Skills

  • BS/MS in Food Science, Food Engineering, Dairy Science, Meat Science, Chemical Engineering, Biological Engineering, or related field

  • Minimum of 2 years of relevant experience with Bachelor’s degree or 1 year of relevant experience with Master’s or no relevant experience with PhD

  • Product development and commercialization experience

  • Understanding of ingredient functionality and interrelationship of ingredients and process

  • Excellent communication, influencing, prioritization, and project management skills

  • Strong critical thinking skills and ability to make connections to the big picture

  • Manage multiple assignments/tasks concurrently with the ability to question the priority of work

  • Willingness to travel approximately 30% of the time. Travel could include (but not limited to): to internal plants, co-manufacturers, and suppliers.

Work Environment & Schedule

This position is considered a Normal office environment with moderate travel to customer locations, stores, manufacturing facilities, etc.; offices are open workspaces

New Hire Base Salary Range:

$77,800.00 - $97,300.00

Bonus: This position is eligible for a performance-based bonus as provided by the plan terms and governing documents.

The compensation offered will take into account internal equity and may vary depending on the candidate's geographic region, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience among other factors
