Data Operations Systems Manager

Overview
Reporting to the Senior Director of Network and Data Center Operations, the Data Operations Systems Manager will be the Technical Lead for all BPD and related System and Network Infrastructure.
Responsibilities
- Provides technical direction and ensures proper operation of all BPD Servers, Storage, and Networked Systems to include BPD, BRIC, and PSAP CAD/911 Active Directory Domains.
- Manages and maintains the department’s virtualized infrastructure, including VMware and Hyper-V environments, ensuring high availability, performance, and data integrity across all virtual servers and clusters.
- Develops and maintains disaster recovery procedures and preventative maintenance schedules, as well as performs system updates and upgrades.
- Responsible for systems and network security, including endpoint protection and user authentication.
- Responsible for G-Suite administration and email security.
- As Technical Lead, supervises and provides direction to Systems Operations staff.
- Performs related work as required.
Minimum Entrance Qualifications
- Applicants must have at least five (5) years of full-time, paid professional experience in systems administration, including technical and operational responsibility for enterprise server, storage, and virtualization environments. Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field preferred.
- Hands-on technical experience installing, configuring, and managing Active Directory Domains, Microsoft Entra ID, and Server Operating Systems.
- Demonstrated technical knowledge of VMware Cloud Foundation, Microsoft Hyper-V, Windows Server, Ubuntu Linux, Veeam Backup, and Replication.
- Advanced knowledge of Cisco Switches and Access Points, Dell PowerConnect Switching, and Juniper Firewalls and Switches.
- Experience with GSuite Administration and email protection products such as Proofpoint.
- Advanced knowledge of Dell EMC Isilon, Compellent, and Unity Storage Systems.
- Extensive knowledge of server hardware deployment and troubleshooting, specifically Dell PowerEdge and HP ProLiant.
- Understanding of concepts like Deduplication, Encryption, Compression, and Replications.
- Experience with Video Management Systems such as FLIR Control Center, Avigilon, and Genetec.
- Experience troubleshooting wireless links, including cellular, WiFi, and Point to Point Microwave.
- Extensive knowledge of standard network protocols, standard operating systems, and enterprise network applications. (eg. DNS, DHCP, NTP, LDAP, SSL, etc.).
- Ability to exercise good judgment and focus on detail as required by the job.
